ATTENTION: Settings for GNMTokens 3.2.0 have been reverted to the pre-3.0.0 options. Please delete your GNMTokens config file and reset your options. Apologies for the inconvenience and any confusion!!!
I keep having a small issue where the GNM 1 and 2 still overlap with the male and female symbols. I have DaisyNikos Interface, so could that be a problem?
Hello, and thank you for your question! As you guessed, it is likely DaisyNikos Interface is causing the issue. However the GNM has a built in config setting that should fix the problem. In the config for the Gender Neutrality Mod (NOT GNMTokens) change the Priority config to "Late" and it should fix the issue. If it does not fix the issue or something else goes wrong please feel free to comment again! Thank you for your comment!
been using this mod for a long time, it's a lifesaver! though i am quite lost on how this interacts with dialogue gender switches that include male/female/non-binary alternates instead of just male/female, it seems that the game kinda just defaults to the player's body type. a few mods do try to use the three-way gender switch (Central Station is the one that sent me down the rabbit hole of handling non/gendered dialogue), which makes this issue stranger still. some guidance on how to resolve this gender switch problem would be appreciated!
Hi and thank you for your question! I actually tried to make this mod utilize the new male/female/nonbinary gender switch but it ended up being a bit broken. To utilize the new switch system you actually have to set the player character's gender to undefined in game code. This was easy enough to accomplish but also had a strange side effect of changing the character model and therefore also breaking the clothing, hair, and hat visual offsets for "male" characters. I decided it was beyond my ability to fix and scrapped the idea. I know at least some of the mods that do try to use the new switch system had heard about my attempts to allow it to be used and prepare ahead of time so that is likely why they have used it. Thank you for your interest if you would like more information please feel free to comment again or DM me.
is it safe to install mid game or does this require starting a new save? i have a save with year 4 farm and wouldnt want it to mess up my game somehow :/
Hello! This should be completely fine to install on a pre-existing save. Content Patcher in general is pretty good at not corrupting saves and this is a Content Patcher mod! Also I've never had any reports saying otherwise. That said, I haven't actually tested it myself so I'm not 100% certain, but pretty close. Thank you for your question, hope this helps!
I designed a more inclusive Bathhouse - a completely new Locker Layout without an obvious female/male seperation (it's also more tidy, still vanilla-style). If anyone is interested :) Prettier Bathhouse
thank you for your effort on the mod! c: and please delete if my ad is not wanted.
Thank you for your kind comment. Just to note if anyone wants to use Louplex's Prettier Boathouse they will likely need to turn off the bath house settings in the base GNM!
And Louplex I will likely add your mod to suggested mods section in my description when I have time/remember to do so.
uh... help? SMAPI keeps telling me that I still have version 5.1.0 when I've redownloaded (what shouid be) version 5.2.0 like 4 times now. does anyone else have this issue or know what to do about it?
The author probably just forgot to change the version number in the manifest from 5.1.0 to 5.2.0. You can ignore it and it won't hurt anything as is, but if it bugs you to have SMAPI keep telling you that you need to update you can manually change the version number yourself:
Go to the mod's folder which is called "[CP] Gender Neutrality Mod"
Open the "manifest.json" file in a text editor (like Notepad or TextEdit)
Where it says "Version": "5.1.0" change it to "Version": "5.2.0"
Save the file
Note that this general process works for any mod that's saying you need to update even though you just downloaded the new version, not just this one!
Sorry about this! PashaWithHat is correct! I forgot to update the version number when I reuploaded the mod. I will fix this as soon as I can but in the meantime PashaWithHat's solution should stop the warning from SMAPI or you can just ignore it, it shouldn't harm anything. Thank you for your question and sorry for the confusion!
can't thank you enough for this mod, honestly. i'm a bit of a newer sdv player, but it's quickly grown on me as a comfort game and i'm so glad there's a way to enjoy it without being bombarded with gender-loaded words, a way to feel safe and comfortable as a genderqueer person at least in this video game about escapism. again, thank you so much!! <33
So glad to hear the mod has helped you and (since you say you're new) welcome to the Stardew modding community! Thank you for your kind comment and I hope you continue to enjoy the mod!
I cannot POSSIBLY express how happy this mod makes me. It's honestly kinda wild that a modder can make something like this but Barone hasn't implemented at least some sort of pronoun options himself. And the fact that you even set it up so that you can have multiple pronouns that can be randomly chosen with each conversation? Quite literally the best and most meaningful mod to me that I've ever had.
Thank you for the kind comment! I'm so glad to hear you've gotten use out of the mod!
As for ConcernedApe, there are some technical boundaries to consider for pronoun options such as translations to languages that rely heavily on gendered language and don't have gender neutral options in standardized speech or even the fact the allowing users to fill in pronouns would be a difficult feat without using content patcher. In any case, he did make some changes in code during 1.6 to lay the groundwork for pronoun options, but didn't actually do anything with them (as far as I know anyway). So if he ever decides to make another update (which he said he isn't but also said that after 1.5, so we'll see) he may add something like this himself. If not, I'm just happy my mod is there to fill in the gap!
I'm sorry but I don't understand the body type instructions that you've included with this update! I don't see a body type option for either the mod settings within GMCM or in the GNM's config.json file, and I deleted and regenerated the config file twice (shown is how the in game menu looks for me with your Nov 25th update). I did read through the other comments below too to see if I could figure out out, with no luck. I also have not had any visual glitch issues though, so I might just be overthinking what I need to do!
From one of the other comments below you also said that you couldn't get GNM to play nicely with FS and that seems to be working okay for me with no visual glitches😅 I started this playthrough about a week ago with body type 1 and then switched to 2 a few days ago so I could romance a lesbian Mothman, and then went back to 1 just now, all with no errors that I can notice!
Hello! If you are using Fashion Sense you probably don't need to worry about changing the config. If you do run into issues however, the config option you are looking for is in the GNMTokens config. Sorry for the confusion, I'll clarify this in the downloads and comment sections! Also I'm glad to know Fashion Sense is indeed working with this Mod, it may have been an issue in my end in that case. Thank you for letting me know!
As a side note: I will be re-releasing GMNTokens soon with a reverted config as the new system introduced too many bugs and was admittedly very confusing. Apologies for all the confusion and inconvenience!
I just recently returned to SDV after a while. Steam updated my game to 1.6.14 and I updated all my mods for compatibility. For some reason, the gender natural mod isn't working for me. I redownloaded both this one and GNMT twice, set the change using the Generic Mod Config Menu, saved and restarted the game, and even made a new save file twice but nothing is working. I checked by going to Alex and Pierre and they still said "guy" and "Mr." (I used Body Type 1). Am I missing something?
Was it the new update since the mod was wonderful when I used it before
Hello! In the GNMTokens config, does the drop-down under Gender say either "Nonbinary (They/Them)" or "Custom". If not that may be the problem as I may have accidentally included a config file that may have affected this. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will remove the config file next update! In the meantime switching the drop-down to "Custom" should solve the problem!
first up, thanks so much for the mod! it's seriously appreciated, and has been for a long time now.
secondly: very odd issue with this latest update. I didn't realise these mods might have been tweaking the hairstyles before, but I've compared before and after this mod update to double-check and the ponytail (#13) looks really odd now on my "male" sprite. images here.
I couldn't find any option to change this in the configs, and there's no smapi error showing - is this a deliberate change to the mod, or a bug? either way, I'm quite happy to make do with the old one for now. many thanks!
Hello! First, thank you for the kind comment! Secondly, this mod doesn't actually do anything to the farmer sprites so I can only imagine it must be an issue from another mod. Did you update any other mods at the same time? Either way sorry you're having trouble!
Hi, I'm actually having the same issue, for some reason the game keeps defaulting my character the feminine body and will keep doing so after every night, which makes some of the hairs look different at first. I'm not trying to imply that this mod is the reason for that, but I just wanted to give my two cents incase that was the reason why the hair looked weird on your character.
oh, that might be what's happening! I didn't notice at first but there are other graphical glitches too - the bottom of the trousers and the waistband. it's been ages since I played with the "female" model, I don't recall if that's normal or not.
this did happen right after I updated this mod and GNM tokens, and only those two, unfortunately, and stopped when I reverted to the old versions. I tested with only these two mods and content patcher and that's what the second screenshot's from. (and I just tested again to be sure I hadn't messed up - new images at the imgur link, and a smapi log, but it doesn't seem to show anything except that I removed a mod before playing.)
I did a bit of testing on the farmer creation screen and it looks like the bottom of the trousers DO usually look like that (the "after" image) with the female model, but the hair and waistband don't, so I'm not sure why that's happening. unless the hair and trousers are reverting to female but the height - and maybe the jacket - are staying male. (I'll stop theorising there, and apologies if this isn't helpful; I was just curious enough to poke at it a bit.)
Hello again! From your replies I think I have figured out what happened! The new GNMT actually changes the gender of your character from what you originally chose to ConcernedApe's new "Undefined" option to make use of the also new dialogue switch. It apparently has the (until now) unnoticed side effect of of changing the character model to the "female" model. I can think of a couple ways to fix this but until I can implement them I think you should be able to use the Fashion Sense mod as a work around! I'll link it at the end. Thank you for bringing all this to my attention and sorry for the inconvenience!
EDIT: Fashion Sense apparently doesn't play nice with GNMT now (actually I couldn't get it working at all) so please don't use that. I unfortunately don't have any other workarounds at the moment other than to use body type #2 at character creation. Also fixing this bug may take quite some time as it is actually much deeper than I suspected. For now I will put a warning on the download page to only use body type #2. Sorry again for the inconvenience!
