Any chance of anyone doing a 1.6 update? OBSESSED with this beautiful mod but unfortunately it's super laggy for me, and the DGA version that's supposed to help with lag is unfortunately obsolete due to DGA being retired
Yeah, sorry. This and all my mods are just content packs. They depend on fraeworks to function. So, we will have to wait until everything is stable again. Our awesome mod community is working right now as we speak, so at least we have hope for fixes and patches <3
(If you are on Steam, i know there is a way to go back. On the BETAS menu. I think is called "Legacy") (Also, some users have reported a weird bug. While you have to turn off animations on the config to work. 5 reports about it already)
As today Nov 28 of 2021 : -I redownloaded this mod and the Better Gems and Minerals -Updated eveything
And the mod keep working as expected.
On the comment below i posted some possible problems anyone could had with the installation.
BUT the most easiest way to help anyone is to give us (mod authors) a log back, so we can see what the Exact issue is. if you have some time. Enter here, follow those simple steps and send me back the resulting link : https://smapi.io/log
(For users wondering, that page/aplication was made by the Smapi creator... It has a certificate and only provide us with the info about the smapi and the mods installed/conflicts.)
I referred to your comment below -double checked all reqs and have them -updated all the frameworks and mods I could -made sure I didn't have any other mods editing the gems/minerals -definitely didn't mess up the extracting or misplaced the file
I did also make a log today if that can tell anything further: https://smapi.io/log/890405e13edb4565a1a9d9b9df3e2e0c
Yeah, your log/installation looks clean.. it should be something else. My bet is "omited config files"
So, 2 or 3 more things to try about that :
1-One problem i didn´t mention was the use of mod managers like "Vortex". Vortex is know to omit important files, like configuration files (The ones in charge to "switch" between on/off true/false) So, if you are using one,, that could be the issue.
2-Since you have Generic Mod Config Menu... go inside and look for the Menu of this mod. called "Better Gemstones Animated" +And check if the options are ticked. Now : -If they are ticked, untick them, or some, save, quit the game and relaunch the game and check if the animations are working. -If they are not ticked, just tick them, save, quit the game, re-launch and check if changes apply.
3-This extra option would be : moving all you other non-framework mods to other folder outside your mods folder. an leave just this one + Better Gems and Minerals. This is to check if the issue is not related to your other mods installed. (Should not be..)
If you have an issue with omited files, it Should be resolved on point 1 or 2. If not, we should call an exorcist ; _ ;
I got them to work using your suggestion below, by unticking all of them through 'generic mod config menu' then loading into my game, the animations appear to all work perfectly now. Thanks for the responses and time taken to help me out!
haha, yeah, this is the second case of someone making it works trough "un-ticking them"
Its not supposed to work like that (Because unticking them means switching the conditions to "false" = disabling them) Something is happening that makes the everything reversed.
I don't understand how to install this mod. I unzip the file into my mods file, a [CPA] folder appears, I can see it with generic mod manager menu where everything is toggled on but then in game nothing is animated. I have all the required mods installed and updated, what am I doing wrong ?
1-Missing requirements 2-Outdated frameworks 3-other mods targeting the same items (CPA is super picky on this point) 4-bad installation. (Users don´t extracting correctly the .zip/.rar OR misplacing the mod folder outside "Mods") Bonus! : Being on mobile. (Mobile version is oudated and not suported by many frameworks. Including CPA)
If you could send me a log following these steps : https://smapi.io/log
And pasting here the resulting link. So i could see what is the conflict/missing component.
But this message appears in the SMAPI log. "[Content Patcher] Ignored Better Gemstones Animated > config.json > FireCrystal: no such field supported by this content pack."
You can ignore that, (I am guessing is a yellow text warning) Recently i made an update to change the name of the FireCrystal to FireQuartz, just for clarity. That item was working before, and the warning should only appear 1 time only.
Aside from that, you can fully ignore that message.
Hello, Im taking a look at the content.json and I see 'FireCrystal'. What is that? In Better Gems and Minerals, its called 'FireQuartz'. In the vanilla game, there is a fire quartz, no fire crystal. The fire quartz is not animated because your mod is calling for the wrong gem.
Also, hematite does not have the "AnimationFrameTime" or "AnimationFrameCount" like all the other gems so it is not animating.
Good day or night! The Hematite missing lines are correct. I´ll add them back
The FireCrystal one.. It does target the FireQuartz (The important thing when replacing idividual sprites in a sheet are the coordinates on X and Y, those are corret). I just named it differently because.. tired.. haha. I am renaming the Config option and the LogName to FireQuartz for Clarity tho.
Also, while config options work, "CP-Animations" ones don´t work super well with "Generic Mod Config Menu" CP-Animations changes doesn´t reflect until you re-start the game. So, that could affect testing perception while checking for config options in-game.
New updated version should be up soon, thank you for the report! <3
A beautiful addition to an already gorgeous mod! I'm a gem and mineral collector in real life (okay, mostly mineral, I can't afford most gems!) and was always disappointed in the vanilla models. These make me very happy!
Limestone sparkles about as well as concrete, so it may be nicer here.
I am collector too, mostly of anything shiny in general. Yeah! i wish i can collect Opals.... (Super expensive and Beautiful...)
I know some minerals just don´t shine too much irl, (Unless at very direct light source) But then, if i make the effect more dim on the animations, they just look either : "un-noticeable or weak" So i had to go with a "middle ground" for some of those.
Glad you liked it!. I am working on a mineral focused mod called Mineral mage, and recently the mod "More Gem" got compatibility to Jewelcraft. So the future is looking shinier <3
