Many grass mods require the installation of the ‘More grass’ mod. So far it shows itself unstable. A year ago it was causing crashes in co-op, and now it's causing SMAPI conflicts in my single player game. For some people More grass doesn't work at all (50/50). I assume that More grass will not update. Is it possible to make a version that doesn't require More grass to be installed? (。•́︿•̀。)
Sadly no, because without More Grass you have only 3 or 4 grass types. Only what's on the original tilesheet. I had never problems with More Grass till now though. If you have problems with that mod, I recommend sending an SMAPI Log to the author of More Grass. Otherwise you can search for a Recolor you like. They also often alters the grass. But this variety of grass is not possible without the More Grass Mod.
I am not a modder so I have no idea how difficult this is, or even if it's easy and you just don't feel like messing with it which is also fine haha But I am using another mod (Soft Slow Seasons) that recolors and sometimes one variant of grass looks better than another (in spring WittilyNamed looks best, but then in fall Eemie's looks better, etc). So my actual question is, is it possible to add an option to basically turn a file on or off in-game via the Config menu? I could have all the color variants installed, but click them off/on instead of adding and removing the different files? I am not sure if I am even making sense, much less if it's possible haha Basically, right now if I want to change grass colors, I have to remove the grass file that I have and then replace it with the new grass file, and I have to load the game to see if I like it, then close the game, switch the files to change the color variant, then reload the game and see if I like that one better lol
Secondary option, having all the color variants in one file, and then the menu choice is just which one to have on?
Hey there, the problem is, that this is only a content pack for More Grass. It's not a own Content Patcher Mod. That's why I can not implement my own rules for it. The rules, if you take it that way, makes "More Grass". You could ask him to implement such things, but let my say this - it's very hard to be compatible with a mod adding that much more varieties like Soft Slow Seasons...
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question!! Like I said, I am not a modder so I am not always sure what is or isn't possible/easy/worthwhile haha I appreciate you letting me know!!
Just checked and Soft Slow Seasons has config options to turn off nuupon's grass textures separated by season. All you need is GMCM to change them or disable them!! Have a lovely day!!
Thank you very much. :D About the blue grass - this is not completely in my hands, since this is just a content pack for the More Grass Mod. And as far as I know it has blue grass not added in it's code. So I can't add blue grass in the same way the other grass is. If More Grass will support Blue Grass in the future, of course I can add some. :)
You mean the grass gets replaced on the farm, but anywhere else you see the vanilla grass? That's odd. Can you send me an SMAPI Log so we can check what's going on?
Okay, that's probably because you haven't installed SVE or another map-changing mod, which adds grass to the town. In the vanilla game there is no grass placed in the town. This mod only changes the appearance from grass, it does not add more grass to any map.
