It would be cool if scrubbing the items would give you the difference in money (similar to how it works in magic). I`ve always wanted a craftable machine for this purpose, makes it a bit more real then just stupidly pressing a hotkey over and over.
I agree! On doing some research, I discovered that there are issues with machines that generate two outputs, and I don't even know how I would make a machine that credits a player account with cash. Certainly I didn't find anything in a framework mod that could do this.
However, I came up with a better solution. I have used assets from this mod to write a machine that will occasionally double its input, with the odds depending on the quality level of the input item. It is specifically set to exclude cooked and artisan goods, but should accept all above-Normal quality crops, forage, animal products and fish (including modded items, as long as they are tagged correctly). If you prefer to get money, you just sell the extra items; or you can process them for further profit.
Please see Quality Conversion Engine for more details, including versions for both pre-1.6 and 1.6 (note different dependencies in the two cases).
Suggestion: I'd love to be able to buy this at Robin or Pierre, so i can scrub items early on, instead of needing Farming level 2. 1000 Gold for each would be nice.
This really helps with many other mods i'm using, like RSV's quests(giving like 10 of an item only works if they're in the same stack) and some custom machines don't see like 2 peaches of different qualities as the same(using Automate).
For any wondering, this mod IS still helpful in specific scenarios. I downloaded it specifically for a Ridgeside Village quest to give Trinnie 10 Sunflowers. In 3 harvests I still did not have 10 matching quality flowers, and you could only hand them to her in a full stack of 10. (I tried splitting - did not work.)
SO. FOR THESE VERY NICHE INSTANCES... Great mod.
Speaking of-- any way to make it scrub in bulk? It'd be helpful to toss in a batch of, say, 7 silver flowers and pull out 7 regular, instead of waiting for each one or crafting multiple scrubbers.
