22/03/24 UPDATE : 1.6 has released and this mod of course is completely broken for this version. I don't have time just now to update it as I also want to see if I can do a full rewrite : some dependencies might need to be changed, Better Mixed Seeds hasn't updated yet, and the code certainly needs another pass. I also want to wait a little bit and let the mods slowly update and the fallout settle down, and I will also probably update Pierre's Roulette first as it is smaller in scope. In the meantime, happy farming !
This mod was really fun with mixed seeds and Seed Catalogue, loved having to slowly unlock seeds.
Would you consider also making a new/better/alternative to the now depreciated Seed Catalogue? Also if needed some sort of rework of Pierre's Missing Stocklist to better work with this mod?
seed shortage values were used as base, rest was filled in by me. The config was generated from scratch by BMS and then had the weightings edited to guarantee compatibility with the mod.
This config contains updated values for: Vanilla SVE (joja fruit/berry have low weighting) fruits and veggies mizu.flowers (slightly lower values for the 600~ weighting flowers) freshmeat (very low values overall, as this is mostly used as food) FantasyCrops (disabled / 0 chance as mixed seeds)
do note that BMS will set Cactus Fruit to False, meaning you have to keep sandy enabled (which isnt a problem with higher crop prices to avoid good profit quotas on it)
as i'm currently playing trough this myself, updating could take a while. if you got any suggestions, reply or DM me on discord iHaku#8923
i'm testing this together with https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/10681/?tab=posts&BH=0 seed maker tweaks, which i recommend for a large diverse farm that cant be forced into a mono culture (thanks aedenthorn for making this for me after i requested it!), set to 89.8% mixed seeds, 0.2% ancient seed and default seed/mixed seed quantities.
Note that this seed maker mod is currently not compatible with the BetterQualityMoreSeed mod and its settings are not applied to during automation.
BMS ignores this older config, attempts to overwrite it on game and save load, crashes the game if the file is read-only, and otherwise does this all silently with no output to console. It has an updater tool in its files if anyone wants to use that; alternately, here's a working* (note below) version of the current config : https://paste.ee/p/08Og6 , and for when this breaks in future, consider an online diff tool, which is how we arrived at:
change "UseCropYearRequirement" to "UseSeedYearRequirement"
adding "EnableTrellisCrops": true, just below
adding "Enabled": true, just inside the "StardewValley": { block
watch this value/ reset it to true as needed, since BMS will silently disable your config most times it doesn't like something
find and replace all "Chance" to "DropChance"
just before the final } close, add "CropModSettings": {}
Mostly, SeedYear and DropChance labels have to be changed; it seems to add the other things if they're missing, possibly disabling the config, but without fully overwriting it and so leaving your drop chances intact.
Load a save and it will reorder the crop entries, probably leaving enabled as true (but do check), adding all new crops from 1.5 at default BMS values, and converting all of your drop chances to allow for a decimal point value. If so, it's working, just change false to true as applicable, restart and if you can load fully into game without it disabling your config, you should be good to go.
(It no longer seems possible to grow forage from mixed seeds. And "Rice" will be removed and replaced with "Unmilled Rice", reverting to its default BMS chance; so edit that to its prior value if you want.)
*Note that the config I'm providing disables new 1.5 crops coming from mixed seeds, instead of BMS defaults. There should be other ways to attain them, but I don't know and am playing through this myself while trying to avoid spoilers. I expect that if you're playing with Seed Shortage, you'll prefer this experience; but I may be mistaken and you should enable those if you like. All values are the same as the author provided config.
thanks this seems useful sadly I'm already far into a game with the normal configs but at least from what i've heard none of the new crops are sold in perries store anyway meaning you get them from new traders and quests
something strange i've noticed is while the first time i used the old config it got replaced the current config i was using while outdated wasn't replaced and worked fine strange?
Hey! I love this mod concept. I actually used it in my previous save, but I missed the part about there being a BMS config file and it did get a little unbalanced (I have a few other rules or mods that make things more difficult, so it wasn't crazy OP). I'm starting a new save now and am excited to use the mod the right way, haha.
I have a goal of never buying any seeds and eventually ending each season with at least 100 seeds stockpiled of every single crop through the use of mixed seeds and seed makers. However, I use a ton of crop mods and am worried that if I use the provided BMS config file, I will not have a chance of getting a lot of these modded crops in the game. I scrolled through the config file and it looks like there's a lot of crops that I have from mods that would be missing. Does that mean I have to go through and manually add the crops from mods that don't seem to be included in the provided BMS config file? I read through everything in the description page but it could just be that it's really early and I'm tired and braindead, but I didn't really find an answer. Thanks again for making this mod!
Hey there. You don't need to use either the "JA Version" or the "Vanilla version" anymore. I keep them in the Old Files section just in case. There's only one version since the 1.3 update of the mod. You should download the latest version. The Installation section of the description covers everything. You need to install the required mods and finally drag and drop the 3 folders of Seed Shortage in your Mods folder. If you don't know how to install mods, there's a link again in the Installation section of the description, that links to the SMAPI wiki, where you can read how to install mods.
In my head this mod is called "Seedmaker Company Hates You."
Seedmaker company suffered heavy lost last quarter. After tracing the cause, they found out that the greatest blow was caused by certain liaison in Zuzu's Joja. So yeah, you don't quit your job because you feel empty doing desk job. It's because Seedmaker representatives gives you the stinkest eye imaginable whenever they visit. If you stay at your job, they can't do anything. But then you quit. And like a comedy crafted by the divines, you started a new life as a farmer. It's inevitable that Seedmaker Co try to exert their influence.
Small time business like Pierre can't sell you seeds except stuffs that he made himself. Some lowly Parsnip whenever spring arrives.
Joja, however, is a powerful retailer. They sell stuff to whoever they want to sell. Too bad Seedmaker Co has hands in Republic's politics. So Joja can't help their former employee more than to sell you the stuff at exorbitant rate. It's a compromise. After all, more than your business, they value less obstruction from policy makers.
Traveling Merchant smuggled his wares. He doesn't care.
Sandy did not get the notice. Maybe because Seedmaker knows that Calico Desert disconnected from Stardew Valley, they skimp the work.
Yeah, I remove Sandy from config. I really want her to sell at 5x the price rather than 10x. But the mod can't accommodate, can it?
You absolutely can do that. I suggest you take a look at the config explanations on the GitHub here: https://github.com/xynerorias/Seed-Shortage#configurations
Sadly you can't assign different price increase to different vendors, the price change is global.
Just want to say I enjoy this mod! I've always felt it was too easy to make profit extremely quickly in Stardew just from buying seeds.I found in the first year alone I would already have quite a lot of money. This adds a level of challenge to my game! Thanks!
Hi ppja fruits and veggies just added buckwheat to their crops but it is not showing up in your config is there anything I can do to add it to the seed list
When Better Mixed Seeds updates (or next time you launch the game, if it's already using the crop autodetection that EpicBellyFlop was working on), it'll add Buckwheat to the seed list with a low drop chance.
It does this with everything that is totally absent from the config seed list.
