For all the people that are looking forward to a mod similar to this one, I'm happy to tell you that somewhere around next month there's going to be released a pet overhaul mod, which includes the mechanics from this mod and other neat things related to pet's (mainly cats and dogs), so keep looking forward to it. I have a new idea. Can pets follow me to the mine to fight monsters (although the damage they cause is not high) or help me collect wild food? This may make pets more interesting

Yup! I've been working on the mod as a side project since the 1.6, it is not simple task tho, due to the limitations of the "Pet class" and college stuff, it's taking a lot of time to make, but I'm giving my best to finish it.
Bad News... my computer is about to die any moment and I don't know when I'll buy another one, the mod is still not finished and probably won't be able to. hi! do you have any plans to update to version 1.6 of stardew valley? it's my favorite mod, i used to love playing it while a cat that looked like my cat who passed away kept following me.... now that it's no longer available i'm really sad ;;;

Same here. My cat also passed away and having her with me on my adventures in Stardew has been a great comfort. I love that she can go fishing with me. I really hope that this mod will be updated too.

i'm also hopeful about SunkenLace's post. i managed to make something similar to pet interaction with the custom companion mod, but it's not the same thing honestly, so i just gave up playing and i'll wait for some pet interaction update :c
I am really heart broken by all the people who use this for coping with the loss of our animal companions. I am so sorry for your loss. And I hope this mod gets updated for you all in some sort of way. <3
