I haven't tested it, but it should, since the dialogue files tend to get appended to rather than edited, so the line numbers shouldn't change. The main concern would be if new dialogue has been added that hasn't been edited yet.
Sorry, that must be extremely annoying! Unfortunately I just don't have the time right now to even look into what changes I would have to make to migrate to newer versions of Content Patcher/SMAPI (I'm honestly not even sure where my SV modding files are right now).
I don't play with DSV's modded Jodi, but nonetheless... idk. Why would such a seemingly peaceful land be engaged in such a conflict? Why would a man from a peaceful little seaside town go off to war? I just never liked that at all, it just never felt right. Thank you for this, excellent mod.
I imagine it was written so only the military family really feels the effects because that's what the last 19-odd years in the US have become. As of this year 9/11 babies can go to Afghanistan & no one even seems to have noticed. Like the war is "over" but troops are still there & people still shoot at them.
Regardless how much the "Gotoro Empire" does or doesn't have in common with that conflict, I get the feeling that Kent's story was made out of that severe disconnect between modern society and what military families face in that society.
You're absolutely right, but I prefer to think that Stardew Valley isn't part of a state that engages in imperialism or uses violence to promote its capitalist interests abroad.
Edited to add: One reply below mine has been hidden for imperialistic soapboxing contrary to the spirit of this mod.
I just wanted to express my gratitude and relief that a mod like this exists. My spouse and I are new fans and we use the Diverse Stardew Valley mod, making Jodi a Muslim woman who wears a hijab. I was uncomfortable with Jodi having a military spouse with the IRL backdrop of Iraq and Afghanistan wars and general imperialism.
Does this mod have a variant for Toshinori's mod? Given he's a fellow soldier in that mod and one who knows Kent at that, it might need some alternative dialogue to make sense with this
I haven't tested it, but it should work fine, since AFAIK historically updates haven't changed the location of existing lines. Literally the worst that could happen though is it changes the wrong bit of text because it's looking at the wrong line number.

That said, this is an interesting mod idea.
