If you're thinking about continuing work on this, I'd like to suggest a way to alter a machine's quality output range based on percent as well.
(that way those who use dynamic machines can have a way to say, alter casks to include more items that can be aged to higher tiers, such as modded fruits and vegetables, or modded drinks, without having to go into their game and alter xnb's manually)
Sorry about the super late reply, but what did you set the values to? the mod is set up to do the exact same thing for every machine, so if changing doesn't work for the kiln, then basically changing any other machine shouldn't work either o: (Keep in mind, this was made for the modloader version 0.40.something, newer versions of either the modloader or the game might break stuff, if that's the case, i'll have to mark as outdated/obsolete, as i do not plan on updating it)
1. Go into your mods folder and open the dynamic machines mod folder. 2. Open the config.json file in notepad or any other text editor you use. 3. Alter it's content in accordance with the guidelines in the description. 4. Save and close. 5. Play.
Sorry about such a late reply, i don't check here often nowadays.. >.<
I wanted to let you know that a user by the name of McCloud has stolen this mod and is claiming it as his own on stardewmods.com [http://stardewmods.com/resources/dynamic-machines.101/] along with the work of other authors including myself.

XD as always, thanks for a great mod!
the already set value of 5,5 works but...
Changing the values on the charcoal kiln breaks it reverting it back to its default output of 1.
