Actually, almost every plant used in Medicine is poisonous, but doctors and pharmacists specifically isolate and separate the dangerous components, or utilize them to their fullest in areas they would be beneficial to. Like, most painkillers are actually from poisonous plants that paralyze the muscles, but in small or diluted doses actually cause them to relax and/or become numb, making them efficient for over the counter use. However, such drugs are still technically poisonous, which is why you always hear about people ending up in hospitals or dying from overdose.

So, Harvey having and cultivating "poisonous" mushrooms makes absolutely perfect sense, from a medical standpoint, as long as he actually knows what he's doing with them. However, it's a great idea for a mod, and generally speaking, purple makes more sense for poisonous mushrooms than red does (red/white topped fungus are sometimes edible, from what I'm aware of).

Anyway, that's your medical fact for the week, haha.

But Harvey doesn’t know what he’s doing.

All of these point are valid and I love them. The pot outside your door is generally for decorative plants, but while we assume their benign several popular ones are in fact poisonous to eat.

You could make the argument that as a doctor it might make sense to put a warning label on the pot. Or maybe even a warning label and some flyers inside listing all the native poisonous plants.
