Manually Organize Chests
A Stardew Valley mod that enhances chest organization by adding Grab & Place functionality.
Features :
• Grab & Place : Click to pick up a stack. Click again to put it down
• Smart Stacking: Items automatically combine when possible
• Manual Organization : Place items in any chest slot instead without auto-ordering
• Stay Organized : Chest and fridges don't lose their sorting when moved
Advanced Controls :
• Left Click : Pick up or place an entire stack.
• Right Click : Pick up or place one item at a time, keep right clicking to continue picking up or placing one.
• Hold Right Click (While Holding) : Keep holding to keep placing one. Drag to create a line of items.
• Double Click : Gather up to one full stack of the target item from the container (like Minecraft)
• Shift + Click (While Holding) : Place half the held stack into the slot
• Delete (While Holding) : Immediately trash the held stack WITHOUT CONFIRMATION
• Shift + Click : Transfer entire clicked stack to opposite container
• Ctrl + Click : Transfer one item from clicked stack to opposite container
• Shift + Click (Add to Existing Stacks Button) : Dump inventory into chest
• Ctrl + Click (Add to Existing Stacks Button) : Dump chest into inventory
Compatibility :
• Works with all chests types
• Should be compatible with most other inventory mods
• Controller supported (better with "Controller Style Menus" disabled)
• Some shortcuts not available on controller
• DOES NOT WORK ON MOBILE
Mobile Specific :
The patches fail due to the differences in input handling. Mobile touch input style is already very similar to what this mod implements but I'll try to clean up the errors and get controller support working on mobile when I have time. For those who crossplay multiplayer between Mobile and PC, if the PC player installs this mod, it will prevent them from scrambling the mobile player's carefully organized chests.
Future Improvements :
I'm open to suggestions on improving the User Experience in this mod. Current ideas :
• Setting up the L+R buttons to act as Shift and Ctrl on controller.
• There should be a way to transfer an entire stack with the mouse only, like long-press?
