just to let you know that it is illegal (Geneva Conventions). you may want to take it down

"The red cross is an important symbol on the battlefield to protect humanitarian and medical works, and allowing trivial use dilutes the symbol."

    also this source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emblems_of_the_International_Red_Cross_and_Red_Crescent_Movement#Use_of_the_emblems_in_the_United_Kingdom

I'm not an international lawyer, but people living in nations where it is illegal to display a cross of this color on their computer screens should probably not install this mod. Hopefully all the Ukians playing Stardew Valley up until now haven't gotten into too much trouble.

I thought your name looked familiar. Thanks for the template you wrote for how to make ContentPatcher mods. That contained some really useful info on the fields in the manifest file. I found it very helpful.

Actually it isn't technically, at least for health icon.

Being the Red Cross must be accompanied by a white background to count as the The Red Cross. According to the actually Geneva Law change made in 1957.

That being said the change added to the 1957 revision of the Geneva convention clearly states a Red Cross with a White Background.

In this context, without the white Background it isn't The Red Cross. So the Health icon was completely legal in Stardew Valley, and still is. You often see some developers reverse the colors making a Red Circle with a white cross, again legal.

Some just change the color to something else, like how most American Hospitals have done. For some reason it was perfectly fine to use The Red Cross in civilian sectors when representing medical practices, and hospitals in both commercial, civil and media up into the 2000s. Red Cross didn't have an issue with this until recently. So I'm curious whether they're turning from a humanitarian organization to business seeing how worried they are about it now days.

The Geneva law was originally instituted to protect The Red Cross' Mission, to keep organizations from using it for reasons beyond it's mission. So primarily why it was normally considered acceptable how it was used in the past by Medical Practices, like Hospitals even if they were not Associated with The Red Cross.

They just want to stop usage by quacks and malevolent entities to legitimize their for-profit practices and quackery. It has nothing to do with making money, it's a reaction to people doing that.

Odd... Looks to me as though the hospital has a white background with its cross.

      So, no. Not legal.
This whole issue can easily be avoided by just making the cross pink, orange, or purple.

Actually it isn't, but it does depend on the country exactly how the trademark law is implemented. In most cases, one actually has to be
clearly trying to portray themselves as the actual redcross organisation
when they aren't. All the Convention says is that signatories shall
protect the mark in their own states.

Now the red cross likes to say it is more than that.

i appreciate that this mod is technically a war crime/violation of the geneva convention (though personally i feel like using the red cross to designate medical things in a video game should be an appropriate use of it that wouldn't confuse what the symbol means)

Although I understand Concerned Ape's reasons for the changes, I too am not fond of the changes to the red crosses -- it kills the authenticity a bit for me. Thank you for this mod!

FYI, the file "CursorCross2.png" included is the health icon that pops up when you consume food that increases health.  It's larger and a shade lighter than the tooltip icon (cursorCross1.png).

Thank you! Downloading now because I think this is f* bullshit.

I understand that the Red Cross symbol is something important and should be take serious, but I fail to see how my friking game will harm something.
