I've played through this! It's a fantastic project, but very first draft, so I'm uninstalling it from my game now to avoid issues. Well, I say "played" - I did not do any quests because as noted below in comments, you just get keys by going back to the entrance -_-. Still, I hope you come back :3
If this mod ever gets a polished compatibility release I will be the absolute first to download... the concepts and the artworks look absolutely amazing!!! What an awesome school project!!!
Maybe someone from the modding community would like the idea and help you make with coding. I bet it would be very loved. Its actually an awesomeee idea for a SDV mod.
This mod is an interesting idea, but the initial release is kind of a mess. Solid objects on the map can be walked through but empty spaces are impassable. You can't really interact with the NPCs. You don't actually have to complete any of the quests to progress, you just exit and Luci gives you the keys without having to do anything. I finished the whole storyline in an ingame hour because I didn't have to actually do anything to progress. Pride uses Gluttony's sprite and can't be interacted with or gifted. The size and placement of that hole in the mines is also not going to be good for compatibility if you run other mods. It's a very cool idea, but it needs a ton of polish and a bit of fleshing out. I know it's school project, but I hope such an promising idea doesn't get abandoned here.
Hello! Thank you for the feedback! I was the main sprite/portrait artist for this mod :) I don't know if we’ll ever come back to it— we lost a team member very early on due to class struggles, which made it much more difficult to get things done on time. Also, great note on the compatibility issue there, I wouldn't have thought of that 😅 Thank you for playing through our mod, I’ll let the other team members know about your notes and feedback! It’s a bit up in the air at the moment, but if we have the time in a semester or two, maybe we’ll come back and polish it up a bit. :)
Sorry about your teammate troubles. That can be rough on a project. Your artwork was probably the best part. It's a little off style for SDV, but that probably makes sense for a bunch of demons in hell. It makes a nice contrast. I hope to see more of your work in the future.
The reason I brought up compatibility is because it's a huge focus in the SDV modding community. The game has about a dozen big expansions (more to come), dozens of locations, hundreds of NPCs, and hundreds of quests, item mods, and gameplay overhauls. Despite all that, very few things actually conflict because everyone works together to make sure there's room for everyone's art. There's a real passion for teaching each other, supporting each other, and to make everyone's projects a reality and make sure it all becomes a flawless part of the SDV without stepping on each other's work.
It's a great community if you're interesting in learning modding, sprite design, or programming. The main community hub is Discord. For resources, I recommend checking out the SDV discord, East's Scarp's Discord, and Krobus. If any of your team feels like continuing this mod, the community members there can probably recommend some easy tweaks/fixes or offer notes about compatibility. It's a simple mod, and the members over there are extremely experienced. Some of their mods are seriously intricate and complex work, so they really know their stuff.
There's a quick fix for at least one of the issues with this mod. The Gluttony clone is caused by a stray spritesheet. In the folder Hellfall/assets/npc/[CP]Pride/img delete spritesheet.png which contains Gluttony's sprite. Rename Pride_Sprite.png to spritesheet.png. That should fix it.
Interesting idea and concept, just needs a ton of polish. Uninstalled after a couple of scenes due to the spelling and grammatical errors kinda breaking immersion inside a game created with such love and care. Would come back if it were ever cleaned up as it's a very intriguing concept :)
Olá! Artista de Sprite e Retrato aqui! Obrigado!! É improvável que voltemos a esse mod :( (Desculpe se a tradução estiver ruim, estou usando o Google Tradutor aqui)
