Hello. I don't understand what needs to be entered in the cookies field in the settings of this mod manager. I found what is indicated in the instructions, but there are a lot of lines with different characters and they do not look like what is written in this field in transparent text.
I found them and updated the mods. But smapi missed them all. And the versions of the mods in the folder have not changed. I'd rather update it manually. It's safer this way(
I am not quite sure if I have everything right, but I can at least get you to the right settings/options
while on a nexus tab, just rightclick into nowhere, so it will give you the option to return to a previous tab, translate, or, all the way down: inspect. Another UI that looks complicated will open. In the top line it will say "Elements", "Control", and somewhere in the list is "Application". In there you scroll until you find the word "Cookies", and it seems you need the thing it says for "value" in "Session Cookies"? There might be mistakes in there, but that should at least point us in the right direction
Could you add instructions on how to get browser cookies from other browsers like Firefox for exemple? Also could you be more specific as to who has to do this? Currently the Get Cookies button says Non-Nexus premium users but I'm not sure I understand who this is referring to
Found it out after some messing around. Right click while on the homepage of nexus, and click inspect. Go to the applications tab, and under cookies there should only be one. Click on it, and copy the cookie from nexusmods_session. Then, in the Cookies box in the app, type: nexusmods_session=Cookie . Replace the word Cookie with the cookie you copied.
Due to Cloudflare verification, cookies are needed for authentication. SSO implementation would be complicated in this context.Yeah, or just add a webview and bloat the app by hundreds of MB
Looks interesting, looking forward to trying it once it runs on Linux! As for features, have you considered adding support for importing mods/profiles from Stardrop?
It would be nicer if it had an update for the manager that was internal so I didn't have to download the manager manually every time there is an update for the manager
Hi Arborsm, I've been experimenting with Starmodmanager and wanted to share my feedback and comparisons with Stardrop. While the tool shows promise, there are several areas that could use improvement to enhance its functionality and usability:
General Functionality
Incorrect Mod Count: I use more than 200 mods, but Starmodmanager only shows fewer than 100, which I know is incorrect. This could be due to the tool not recognizing mods without specific metadata or mods stored in subfolders. Addressing this discrepancy would help make the app more accurate for users with large mod libraries.
Unclear Home Icon Number: The number displayed on the home icon is unclear as to what it represents.
Missing Search Function: A search bar would significantly improve navigation.
View Modes: Grid view is the only option, and there’s no list view for compact organization.
Game Launching: There’s no button to start the game directly from the app compared to stardrop.
Mod Management: It’s not possible to enable/disable individual mods.
Mod Display and Performance
Thumbnail Inconsistency: Mod images are displayed but not consistently, which affects visual clarity.
High System Resource Usage:
The fetching of mod thumbnails appears to occur at an unregulated speed, potentially overheating CPUs or using significant resources.
This issue can result in temporary suspension from accessing Nexus due to the high volume of requests from the same IP.
A throttling mechanism or option to pause/adjust the thumbnail fetching would be a helpful addition.
Usability Issues
Unfinished Sections: Some parts of the app feel incomplete.
First-Time Configuration: Instructions on setting up the app during the first launch could be more detailed. (This is based on testing prior to version 1.0.3.)
Error Messages: They lack detail and require users to manually fetch logs from the Windows AppData folder for troubleshooting.
Config Access: There’s no direct way to access or modify a mod’s configuration file through the app.
Update and Browse Features
Update Discrepancy: The "Update" tab often shows a larger number of mods needing updates compared to Stardrop. Is this limited to mods hosted on Nexus, or does it account for mods on ModDrop, GitHub, etc.?
Browsing Limitations: The "Browse" feature appears to be restricted to Nexus Premium users, even though its name suggests simply opening mod pages.
Overall Impression: Starmodmanager currently feels more like a mod viewer than a mod manager when compared to tools like Stardrop. While it has potential, it’s missing key features and refinement to be a comprehensive manager.
I’ve attached a screenshot regarding the temporary Nexus bans caused by thumbnail requests for your reference. I hope this feedback helps guide future updates!
Thank you for your efforts in developing this tool.
P.S. I’d like to do more testing, but I’m hesitant to launch the app again because it automatically starts scraping the site for thumbnail images. This not only risks overheating my CPU but also could result in my access to the site being restricted again.
1. Currently, the mod loader handles manifest.json files. I haven't thoroughly tested nested folder loading yet. 2. Noted regarding the number of mods with dependency errors. 3/4/5. Understood. 6. Mod Management:You can access it through right-clicking on the mod.
Mod Display and Performance:
1. Thumbnail Inconsistency: The thumbnails are fetched from mod websites. You can modify them via right-click. I'll add a setting for uniform cropping soon. 2. High System Resource Usage: While I've implemented connection limits for different networks, the image loading threshold might be too high. I'll adjust this soon.
Usability Issues:
1. Indeed, this is an early version with room for improvement. 2/3/4. These features are planned for future updates.
Update and Browse Features:
1. Updates are fetched from both smapi.io and NexusMods. 2. The code was miswritten, currently redirecting to download links.

6. copy that into
Into what?
Thanks. We look forward to see how your mod works out, especially since we have over 800 mods.
