Clint now only offers rental tools after one of two standard dialogs: 1) Clint's dialog immediately after the player purchases an upgrade, and 2) Clint's dialog after the player selects the Upgrade Tools options when there is already an upgrade in progress.
Clint will request rented tools be returned immediately after the player receives back their upgraded tool, or anytime the player speaks with Clint while carrying rented tools except in response to the Upgrade Tools shop option.
Neither the offer nor the request activates in response to the Game Menu anymore.
The request doesn't activate in response to itself anymore.
