+1, this is the must have mod to make multiplayer truely functional. It's weird that it isn't built in to vanilla...

Can barely play the game without it.
This is the only mod that truly captures a good time management for online play. Yes, there's hit-a-key-to-pause mods out there, but this is the only one I know of that makes it feel natural and easy to manage.
      Please update soon!

For those looking for another means till this gets updated, it looks like Aurpine is making a similar mod. It's in early stages, so expect some bugs; But it does about the same thing (minus seeing when someone is in a "paused" state. It simply pauses and shows an icon when criteria is met).
The biggest thing I noticed, which matches the bug list, is that a new player joining may bug it out a little. I restarted the world/server, had her rejoin, and it worked fine afterwards.
Regardless, I'll at least be using it till this mod gets updated.

WAIT - Refined Multiplayer Time Pause (aurpine)

I think I managed to fix the mod to work on version 1.6 / SMAPI 4.0. I have no experience in mods, but as a C# developer it seemed a pretty simple fix that's been working for my boyfriend and I. To use it you just need to replace the MultiplayerTime.dll in StardewValley/Mods/MultiplayerTime by the one on this link: https://file.io/vKBWRrMZeHTk

If anyone wants to check the code I created a fork from the original project here https://github.com/MauricioLZ/StardewValleyMod

    Hello everyone,
Sorry for not updating the mod for 2 + years and leaving it vulnerable to "new" rings. I have played other games and didn't have motivation or friends willing to play SV with. Since then I got girlfriend and am unsuccessfully looking for a job in gamedev (testing or game/economy design or managing Discord). About year ago I've told her that one day I would like to play SV with her, but first I have to update my mods. Yesterday she asked if we could play SV, so that gave me my motivation <3

Mod is updated and will not cause any save file or magnetism problems. I will work on updates with freezing monsters, fixing new bugs and maybe new features :D

Could the text "Multiplayer time Mod turned on" at the dawn of each day be configurable, maybe a "debug output" setting or something? It gets printed even when playing solo and can be kind of annoying as it can drown out other morning messages that can be of interest (Dish of the Day, Food Cravings mods, for example).

Don't know if you're still active on here, but someone on your Github wants to merge a fix they made for the combined rings added in 1.5, would be cool if you could allow it :)

I wasn't active, but I just updated the mod. This fix won't be necessary, but thanks for info. I will check it to see how I could have fixed it.

Is there a possibility of making your mod compatible with Casual Time? According to the author of that one (check the posts to see their reply to me) your mod apparently is pausing the UI update but it let's the Casual Life timer carry on the actual timers. It sometimes ends up freezing the game for a few seconds so it can catch up with the actual time.
Figured by what they said that this is something that probably has to be fixed on your side.

My mod only mimics the pause from single player. As a mod creator I can't interact with SV code to make it "legit" pause. Only way was if I would use Harmony - as creator of Casual Time did. That's why Casual Time might have higher priority when it comes to time manipulations. I've never used Harmony and it is discouraged to use it to not cause massive errors - especially when 2 mods interfere in the same SV source code. I guess any other mod doesn't edit ShouldTimePass() function or any other that I would need to edit, so it would be safer and mod code would be much simpler. That may be task for some day :)

Is there a way to configure this mod to automatically freeze time in MP if one of the players is in a frozen state, not all of them.

Say if I'm playing local or online MP and there's two of us, if one is stuck in a cutscene it automatically freezes the clock, not just if both of us are stuck in an inactive state?

It might do that already, I'm just not 100% certain from the description.

Mod does not work like that. I would consider as cheating, because players that can play when time is stopped could just do everything what they want in no time.

That's understandable, thanks for the reply.

It's tough finding a balance of either skipping all cutscenes or having major time lost.

I am also interested in this. Getting everyone to pause and wait when someone is stuck in a series of cutscenes isn't easy.

Would you be willing to make a variation to support this feature for those that want to use it?

Either way, thank you so much for making this.

I know once before I final downloaded smapi and other mods I would look at them and there was one that paused time automatically based on the player with lowest amount of pause time. IE 3 players Player goes into cutscene for 2 minutes. Player B sits in screen looking at crafting recipes for 3 minutes. Player c keeps switching screens entering different areas and buildings repeatedly totaling up to 45seconds of pause time (in single player transitions pause time) then the mod would pause the clock for 45 seconds and then if player C decided to look over their inventory for 2 minutes it would pause the game for an additional 1 minute and 15 seconds since that would mean player would have the lowest pause time 2 minutes. then any time player A pauses it would pause time (until they exceed the other players' pause times). Idk what happened to the mod I imagine due to the complexity the author removed it with the inability to keep it properly updated

I wasn't playing SV, so I had no interest in updating this mod. Now I am back and just posted new update :)

Any chance of having an option where time stops while everyone is indoors? (Maybe excluding cave/caverns!) Kind of like how time works in the Harvest Moon games.

I might consider adding that option someday. I guess it would not give players too much "free time". It would have to be only in buildings where none NPC can be, as they are also frozen when mod pauses the game. Of course it would be optional.
