Hello, Ruggerbuns. My brother and I both love this mod. It's so cool. But we encountered a problem when playing split - screen co - op. Our two controllers interfere with each other's green bar sliding, and the mouse does too.
While I love this mod and vastly prefer it over vanilla fishing (my index finger thanks you), I would appreciate some utility being restored to the Barbed Bobber, either in trying, gently, to center the fishing bar over the fish, or trying to drag the fish back to the middle of the bar.
I LOVE THE MOD! I hate fishing, and I always felt like I was cheating with the mod of skipping the fishing minigame, which also made most of the gear useless, this mod makes the fishing game easier and on top of that it doesn't make any gear useless! good job :)
The mod does not have controller support at the moment. How would you want it to work? I'm thinking of making the right joystick control the green bar, and also a sensitivity setting - to adjust how fast the green bar moves. What do you think?
Right joystick or d pad would be perfect (I say if you had to settle on one, d pad would be the definitive choice). As for the actual movement I'm thinking something a lil bit similar to how the bar speed in the vanilla games works. I find that treating a joystick/d pad like a 1:1 mouse can be uncomfortable and at times inaccurate, but I also don't like having to spam a button to catch fish. Maybe add some delay or smoothing/interpolation, something that doesn't make the bar feel stiff and like I'm fighting with it instead of catching fish. (Maybe there already is smoothing in the mod, that's on me I still haven't made my new save yet) but I think this would be a solution that is comfortable and intuitive. Plus combining a sensitivity bar like you suggested would make this perfect
Gotcha, I might make the right joystick the default, with the ability to change it to the dpad in the settings. And I like that idea of making it more smooth, basically I'm thinking it'll continue its momentum a little bit after releasing the joystick/dpad, I'll try to get it to feel as close as possible to vanilla. I actually don't have a controller to test with while I develop this feature, so you'll have to wait a little bit for this update, but rest assured I'm working on it.
Version 2.1.0 now has controller support. It supports D-Pad, Left Joystick, and Right Joystick by default, no settings required. The sensitivity setting is not available yet. Let me know if it plays well, I'm open to changing it to be smoother/more comfortable in the future.
