I started working on this mod as soon as I hit max hearts with my cat in-game XD Hoping to add more animals as both pets and farm animals soon, especially since I have a lot of animal sprites from my previous mods! Now I can finally get back to playing my save... If you see any bugs, please report them here or in the Bugs section.
My possible pet additions in future updates off the top of my head: ● Chickens ● Crab ● Junimos ● Lop-eared rabbits ● More cats ● Quokka ● River otter ● Sea otter ● Snowshoe hare (just because pets with seasonal coats is fun ;w; ) ● Weasel (which happens to be the original base for my ferrets, yet I haven't finished this one yet lol)
Remember: In real life, please do not approach non-domesticated animals especially in the wild or if they happened to be in a place they shouldn't be. If you're not sure if it's safe to be near one, then it might be for the best to leave them be or have people who are equipped to handle them to deal with the situation.
For more pets and color variations, I would suggest downloading the Pet Overhaul mod too!
I can't find anywhere addressing this, but my pet raccoon often gvies me an error item. Is there a compatibility issue with other mods? Yours is the only one I use that changes pets but I have Mount Vapius and the Expanded Adventurer's Guild for 1.6 that add items.
pretttyyyyy please a white fox in YOUR style and a TOAD option! this swamp witch dreams of the toad. also, I want to put hats on these guys so bad omg. I love this mod!!
hi! this mod is so great, i was just wondering how one might go about removing some of the animal options? i deleted the corresponding files from the "images" and "code" folders (for example, if i didn't want beavers to come up at marnie's as an option) but i noticed smapi was throwing out red lines about not being able to find the content for this animal (because i deleted it). should i also delete the section for that animal in the conetent.json?
for example, deleting; {"Action": "Include","FromFile": "assets/code/beaver_pet.json",},would this be correct? or is deleting the beaver json and pngs enough? thanks so much!!
Yep! All you need to do is delete that line of code in the JSON file if you don't want certain animals to show up. I'm pretty sure you don't need to delete the files in the codes and images folders at that point.
I'll make sure to add a config setting to allow players to pick and choose certain animals from being available in the adoption section. :)
Unfortunately, the game is coded to not use their actual names in the pet adoption screen and I don't think I can change that. Your best bet is to look at the reference picture in the mod's images. Although, the game does arrange them in alphabetical order using their internal names. So the first animal you're seeing there would be the beaver and then the very bottom would be the wombat as of mod version 1.0.

There is no hat support for these animals yet. I'll look into it soon!
