For everyone updating from 1.3.0 and before to 1.4.0+: REMOVE your old install of Growing Valley from your mods folder.
If you'd rather not move your files around, just delete the old installation and add the new one in. You'll have to reapply your settings.
If you want to keep your config options from before, copy the old config.json file in your "[NPC] GVChildNPCs" folder to the new "GVChildrenSMAPI" folder in the new installation. You can do the same for your GrowthSpurt config to the new "[CP] GVGrowthSpurt" folder.
For anyone who downloaded the Custom Suite [CS] and the Vanilla Suite [VS] from 1.3.0 and before: Please download the new versions of the files! They've been updated to a different format and now include recolours for the 4 new hairstyles.
For anyone who was using custom images for eye colours, hair colours, portraits, or sprites in 1.3.0 and before: When updating, please make sure you backup your custom images before deleting the previous mod files. Once you install the new version, all images can be placed into the "Custom_Portraits_Sprites" folder, which is inside the "[CP] GVChildNPCs" folder.
For anyone who may have been using or developing fully custom additional children: Make sure you back up your previous work! I've made a template for the new external content pack format, which can be found in the "Miscellaneous Files". This will allow you to easily publish a Growing Valley child mod as a separate mod that makes use of Growing Valley's format and features! Please feel free to message me if you need any help switching over to this format, or want to know more about how to use it (including if you're just curious about starting to make your own custom children!).
You can edit how long this takes using the LittleNPC config. Just bear in mind to not set it lower than the time it takes for a vanilla child to mature into a toddler.
Hello, I hope this isn't a bother and you may have gotten this question before. I love this mod but I was wondering if its possible for this to be compatible with Little Red Schoolhouse? I have both installed and for some reason my kids went to the school before it was repaired but now that its fixed my kid just sits outside at the park
Hi! I'd like to know if there are any plans for a compatibility patch with Diverse Stardew Valley in terms of how Jas and Vincent look when they get a bit older.
hello. I would like to ask if there are children for other spouses? for example, Shane, Sam, Harvey, Hayley. reading the descriptions, I did not find this information. (I don't know English very well, so I used a translator)
Currently there are not. Likely will be the first thing on the list whenever Silicon goes back to working on the mod (Aside from multiplayer functionality probably). But for now we just have to wait.
I love this mod. My children are so cute! I'm looking for update. The characters you made are so cute. I like it the most out of all the child mods. In particular, I hope Haley's child will be updated soon!
I'm not sure if you saw, but LittleNPCs came out with multiplayer compatibility! I'm a little afraid of testing out the mod and seeing how it works, but would it be safe to assume that because the mod is safe for multiplayer now?
Unfortunately, I'm not totally certain. I can anticipate some things that might act a bit funky, but nothing super game-breaking should happen.
If you happen to test GV with multiplayer, I'd really appreciate if you could record any issues or errors you encounter! I'll definitely make multiplayer compatibility the biggest priority once I return to work on this mod, and having some advance info about how it functions would really speed up the bug-hunting process. Either way, as always, thanks for your support :)
I'm a little late to this post but I ran a test today with a friend and can confirm the multiplayer functionality is in fact working and no longer crashes the client. This only was a test with me as the host with a child roaming around and no child with the client so I'm not sure about that just yet. This particularly with how they will perform their routes as well as the visual of child's sprite and portrait. Although as far as routes are concerned, it possible you might already have a plan for that given the uniqueness of the current cast.
I know this is none of the mod author's concern, but I really want to use this mod for when my farmer has kids. The unique sprites and portraits look fantastic but since I'm using Talkohlooey's portraits I'm worried it will be a bit jarring. I'm not good at art myself otherwise I'd make them myself, but any artists/modders out there can do it I'd be the first to download and endorse. For now I'll just deal with the mismatching portraits.
