Seconded, or maybe an on-screen button that you can click on to enable/disable music (maybe at the top left corner of the screen...).

(And thank you so much for the mod, it was very much needed.)

At the moment, when I start the game it is on by default. Is there a way to change that? When I log into my save I have to remember to press L so that the music starts, it would be nice if it was on by default.

Are you saying when the game starts, music is always off regardless of what it was set to previously? This mod should not affect that, the volume should stay wherever you last left it. If you're just asking for an option to have it on by default even if you had it off when you last played, I can probably add that.

Yes, even when I went to bed with the music on, start a new day with the music on, then exit the game. When I start the game, the music is always off until I press L.

It also randomly stops when opening menus like bag, or shop menus. And only starts again when pressing L.
Edit: I think that the music stopping when opening a bag was because I was using the item spawner to look up produce, and the item had an L in it, like "apple". So this has nothing to do with the music being off when logging in.

I am not able to reproduce either issue. Do you have any other mods installed that might be conflicting with it? When music stops upon opening a bag or shop menu, do you get the regular notification that music is disabled?

With the bags I get the notification, yes. Because as I said, I noticed that it recognised the L key when I typed "apple" in item spawner. I don't know any mods that would be conflicting with it, especially on logging in, which is my main issue.

I wanted it to function even when a menu was open, so having it activate when typing in a menu is an unfortunate side effect. I will see if there's some way to mitigate that.

As for the music not being active when you log on, can you try deactivating the mod and see if it still happens? Stardew should always remember what your music volume was last set to, and this mod should not alter that behavior.

I closed the game and steam completely, removed this mod and then opened the game. The music is there like it should be.
Then I closed everything, put this mod back, and it's silent again until I activate it. I'm sorry that I can't help, I have no idea how modding works :(

The menu thing isn't really important imo, since it only happens when you type in item spawner.

    How do I make this work with 1.5? ;-;

I don't have access to a 1.5 install or knowledge of the modding differences between versions so I'm not sure. Can you describe the problem, is there any error in the SMAPI console?

Yeah the error says "[SMAPI] - ToggleMusic 1.0.1 because it needs SMAPI 4.0.0 or later. Please update SMAPI to the latest version to use this mod."

You could try bypassing that error by changing the "MinimumApiVersion" in the manifest.txt to "3.0.0" but I doubt that will actually solve the issue. Beyond that I cannot do much since I don't have a 1.5 setup, sorry. Is there a particular reason you have not yet updated to 1.6?

Thank you so much for this mod! I always play with music turned off completely, but now I can turn it on whenever I want. Very useful mod.

Thank you so much! I love all of the og Stardew Music but some of the mods, I just can't handle the music. This is the perfect solution; when I get into an area where the music is like nails on a chalkboard (I am autistic, and sensory overload for certain sounds in music is a struggle), I will be able to just toggle it off.

Thanks for the thought since unlike "Common" Game Settings for Popular games include completely turning off music without sliders, Stardew offers no such function so best we can do is the method you're offering. I love this game but sometimes ConcernedApe seems like he isn't playing his own game to see such basic fundamental shortcomings so modders like yourself "had to" fix what the developer ignored so far.
