hi! I am a storyline player who has a ton of NPC mods installed. I saw this mod and installed it hoping it would solve the disorganization created by the influx of letters I have been receiving from my modded npcs. For some reason the letters that are sent from modded NPCS are only showing up in the mailbox the day of receiving it, the letter is just lost forever? No organizational tab with ex: "Sophia" (from SVE) ever shows up on the side. Also once the mailbox surpasses 9 letters in a day, this mods stops working and the letters are opened as they would be without the mod installed, until you only have 9 letters left to open that day. What can I do to fix the issue with the modded NPCs? And would you mind adding the capabilities to scroll in the menu so we can view all letters being received in a day?
I'm not the original author, so I am not entirely familiar with how to go about making these changes. Unfortunately it would probably take quite a bit of work to add in modded NPC support, so I don't believe this is something I would intend on doing. I'll update the description to mention that this mod is best suited for playthroughs that do not add in/change NPCs.
I totally understand, if you can figure it out atleast add a scrollable menu so I can see all my letters at once! Maybe an "other" option for modded npcs?
Well, I mean, if you make your own mod with NPC and you create mails using this mod, you can also see the mails that you created yourself as the sender in your mod and possibly also make your own envelopes. Since I've already tried it myself but unfortunately without success, I'm wondering if it would work. Since the mails without names are only displayed with ???
Ah, okay I understand. In that case, I'm not too sure actually. The original author didn't add support for it other than just making sure the two mods play nicely and don't cause errors. I don't actually use MFM myself either, so I'm not too savvy on how it operates.
I feel like such a thing is definitely possible, but as far as I know, it would probably take a decent amount of effort and it's just not something that I'm interested in.
If someone else were to do it, I'd gladly include them and their changes.
Can you post your SMAPI log to SMAPI log parser - SMAPI.io? I checked it just now, and Mail Framework Mod itself does not seem to cause any issues.
A bit of a dumb check, but just to be sure, old mail is not displaying? Just because if you have no new mail, the mailbox doesn't display any letters because it opens on new mail display rather than old
i had the mod removed but put it back in and ran into the same issue of the mod's mailbox menu being empty and not being able to interact with the mailbox. the new mail tab is empty and under the old mail sextion is "???" that is also blank when i click on it. i'm using Version 0.3.8-beta2 btw.
According to your SMAPI log, you're having an issue because you have both Zilch's envelopes and Aedenthorn's envelopes. So you've got to pick one to use and not both.
you're legendary! that seemed to have done the trick! the menu opens fine, i can interact with the milbox and i can see all the new and old letters. thank you very much! <3
Hmm... The only potential issue I can think of is if you have a mod that changes mail data. The titles are taken straight from the game's mail data, so if it is displaying "???" when it shouldn't be, then that means there was an issue loading the mail title. Even if a mod were to change the mail data such that the title is different, it should still in theory load the new title... so I really am not sure
I think the issue is what Magoozor said I wonder if could there be a way to put the first few lines of text on a mail as their title in case of those mails that don't have a title? or idk, maybe just disabling the title for those that don't have? its doesn't look good tons of "???"
Please consider reverting, or at least making this change optional. It creates issues while loading NPCs to the dictionary and also the corresponding art. I'm working on a mod which does just that, encompassing mods such as SVE, RSV, East Scarp and others, and all the letters that had the ??? title and I had already properly categorized are now misidentified, neither the sender nor the custom art loads. Reverting to 0.3.7 fixes it.
oh, we didnt knew you were working on a mod to organize mails, interesting. I haven't had the chance to test the newer update of mailbox manu so idk yet if its causing any issues
Today I have discovered how to have main files and optional files for more experimental things...
I'll keep 0.3.7 as the main version and have uploaded a separate file with the experimental changes. It keeps the changes to the mail titles optional. It also should be able to address the mail title overflow issue too I hope.
I don't use too many mods, and none of them directly add/change game content, so I don't run into any of these issues very often, if not at all...
OMG... I hate myself sometimes. It wasn't really an issue with 0.3.8, but stupidity on my end. You had changed the mod's UniqueID and I had the old "aedenthorn.MailboxMenu" as a hard dependency and never noticed the mod wasn't loading. I apologize for the confusion. The new beta version is working just fine for me.

Love this mod and I got a strange bug: Neither pressing the shortcut key nor right clicking the mailbox won't show the mailbox menu. Smapi have many errors. The mail can be read by disable the mod in Settings.
Sorry, please download the previous version, 0.3.7. I made a few errors in the latest one. I don't run very many mods, so I could not test for these issues
the new beta (0.3.8) version works like a charm and I'm playing with 400+ mods including all the expansions mods. here's a screenshot to show how the mailbox is looking now with the new titles:
I found a bug:When finished achivement "Master Angler" the next day Willy will send a Stardrop by mail. But if this mod activated the Stardrop will not using automatically as picked up, then it vanished, and energy bar is no changing.
Hmm, I think that might be because you can't put Stardrops in your inventory. I could try to make a fix for it, but I have no idea how I would test it... Do you have a save file of that day?
