i have walk of life with a perk that has gems increase in quality when mined but whenever i mine a sunstone it is normal quality, are all of the gems/minerals labeled as gems or categorized in a way that would not work with walk of life gemologist?
Yes, the minerals added by this mod are put into a category that makes their prices go up when you choose that profession. That’s also why you need to donate the added gems. I’m not sure why the added minerals aren't affected by quality, though.
the stone and ore nodes on my normal mines became nothing but sunstone nodes. I looked into the settings and tried putting the spawn rate of sunstone to 0, yet my mines were still full of sunstone nodes. Any reason for this?
The object labeled "Hornblende" shouldn't be a geode. Amphibolite is the rock you are thinking of, which is made of hornblendes, amphiboles, and pyroxenes. Hornblende is a mineral and thus does not contain other minerals. It does belong to the hornblende "group (a collection of minerals similar to hornblende)" which is where I think the confusion came from.
I would be happy to provide any professional advice on the mod, this is just an example.
Currently, I’m trying to find ways to make the mod more engaging by giving some of the added items—like Hornblende, Gneiss, and Schist—more distinctive features. Currently, the items from this mod don’t have much of a purpose, and I want to address the feeling of "what’s the point?" by making them more interesting or useful in some way.
The idea of Hornblende (as well as Gneiss and Schist) acting as a geode was my first attempt at adding functionality, but I understand now that it’s not accurate based on its mineral properties. If I were to remove that feature, I’d love to hear your thoughts on alternative ideas.
More of a note/warning than a feature request, since I see that "polishing" is an upcoming idea anyway.
I had the bright idea (not actually so bright...) to put a Peridot from this mod into a Dwarven Gem Polisher from Dwarven Expansion. Oops! The Peridot became 0 value at iridium quality. Now I'm trying to keep track of which gems are from Geology Mod to avoid that!
If you do find it's an issue with my gem polisher in Dwarven Expansion, let me know, I'm fairly sure I tested with all of The Geology Mod gem types and they worked as expected, but i can review the entries (generally I don't have to do anything special, that machine literally just takes a gem category item and returns it to you after awhile with a bumped up quality, it should work with literally any gem from any mod)
Thank you both! I'm still trying to track it down, but when I disable economy-affecting mods (Ferngill Simple Economy, Longevity) that adjust sell prices, the problem with the Geology Mod gems goes away, so I'm pretty sure it's something one of those mods is doing. Ferngill Simple Economy has been affected by changes in other mods recently (Content Patcher, I think) so I suspect it's that. Sorry to bother you!
Hi! I was wondering if your mod sometimes adds the mineral nodes near the health and stamia bar on mine levels, the quarry, and skull cavern. Thank you for your mod!!
I don't know what you meant by 'near the health and stamina bar on mine levels', but yes they can spawn on skull cavern.
I won't add them to the quarry cause it's way too hard to balance, they spawn so frequent no matter how low I set their spawn. They're easily farmable on the skull cavern as their spawn rates gradually increases per level, plus you can get them from geodes now, so adding them on the quarry won't be necessary.
The feature wasn’t used much and its only real purpose was to allow crafting 10 prismatic pieces into 1 prismatic shard. This mechanic was now changed to use only 5 pieces in a furnace instead. As for the other machine recipes it it had, they will be repurposed in the mod’s next major update.
I’ve been testing out a feature that fits naturally with the game.
Mudstone can now be cracked open by Clint, like a geode, yielding clay, with a small chance for copper ore, quartz, or an earth crystal. Instead of getting 2 clay from the rock processor, you’ll get 2-5 clay this way.
You can also use the geode crusher if you don't want to go to clint's.

The mod may have been accidentally uninstalled. Make sure you still have it.
120 above means skull caverns, so you can just subtract 120 (i.e. 166 so 166 minus 120 is floor 46 in skull caverns)

Without a SMAPI log, I can't know for sure. There might be an another mod causing the bug.

I'm glad you like the update, I had fun making it.

This feature is added in the new update.
