Hi all - sorry for the radio silence, it's been a while since I've opened my Nexus account.
I just wanted to address the issue some people are facing with Pigs not digging up truffles. I've done some testing and to the best of my knowledge, this isn't so much a bug but a 'biproduct' of having lots of grass on your farm now your animals aren't despawning it. The below is taken from the Stardew Valley Wiki:
A pig has a 0.02% chance on each frame to generate a truffle if:
it has not yet generated a truffle for the day
it is standing on a free tile
This means that there is around a 99.99% chance that a pig will generate a truffle each day, with the assumption that it is walking around on mostly free tiles.
So what's likely happening is that your pigs are waking up, wondering around the yard and not stepping on many 'Free Tiles', because they cannot dig up truffles on tall grass.
Workarounds:
Try to leave an area paved off with paths which has no tall grass (you still would need your pigs to walk over this area on the day)
(Recommended) Install a mod which allows pigs to dig up truffles on tall grass. The Better Truffles mod looks like it can do the trick.
I will try and find time to add build-in implementation to allow pigs to dig up truffles on tall grass and have that feature toggleable but in the meantime hope the above solutions work for you.

Hi everyone! For anyone experiencing the bug that doesn't let pigs produce truffles, found a bit of a temporary work around. My pigs seem to still produce truffles as long as they can find an empty space, so I am only keeping about 25% of their pen covered in grass. They are able to graze over the grass while then having 75% of the space free to dig up truffles. This seems to work so far, as my pigs are currently producing a normal number of truffles while still not consuming any hay from inside. Thanks!
Are you planning to release a patcher to fix the issue with pigs not producing truffles? I really want to use the mod because I love the idea, but that’s a pretty big drawback :(

Update: I have some strange empty patches in my grass after the latest SDV patch (that aren't from removing logs, etc.), but I sat there and watched them eat--I don't see them removing grass. So, as far as I can tell, it works.
And I'm back to ask a mod compatibility question. I play with Resource Chickens (here: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/21800?tab=description) and that mod adds an additional coop upgrade, allowing for 24 animals and 24 hay slots in the autofeed. With both Resource Chickens and this mod installed, every morning there are several empty spots on the feeding bench (either usually or always 10 for me) that must be filled manually. Removing this mod fixes the issue. I reached out to the author of Resource Chickens, and they weren't sure exactly what's causing this conflict, and suggested I ask you if you know what could be causing this.

My animal pen is about 50% blue grass with this mod yet every now and again they wake up upset and hungry, I'm so confused ;u;
