Subway Boss Emmet lets you adopt a Joltik! Legal status pending.
(Adds Joltik as a custom NPC and adoptable pet. Submas only partially included.)

A minimal content pack of everything included in the "adopting a pet Joltik" part of my upcoming submas expansion, "Subway to Stardew"!
Dialogue, gift tastes, and assets are pulled directly from the main files of Subway to Stardew. The schedule is different than the Joltik NPC included in the expansion! This mod and Subway to Stardew were made to be compatible with each other so you can have more Joltiks running around. Joltik gives you batteries when you reach max friendship with them after adoption. They also like batteries. You can find them around town!

While this mod does mention aspects included in Subway to Stardew (Pokémon being heavily restricted in Stardew Valley, earning Emmet's trust, etc.) it isn't exactly story-accurate. Submas are back in Unova! Joltik does mention submas and their Pokemon a lot in their daily dialogue. Apologies if you're here for just a random spider with no strings attached.
Update: I added a 7-event (more like 3, really) storyline of Emmet not taking loss well. He misses his Joltik. He doesn't want to bother you about it. He will get back on track eventually.

This mod is only compatible with 1.6!

Adoption event requirements:
Get 8 hearts with Joltik! The weather must be sunny (do not bring Emmet out into the rain).
To adopt, you must construct another pet bowl at Robin's and visit Marnie after reaching max friendship with your starter pet (selected at character creation).
If you want to trigger the event manually, paste and enter this into SMAPI:
Emmet event requirements:
Enter the backwoods/mountain pass between 6:00 and 10:00 AM after seeing the adoption event and having at least 8 hearts with Joltik. Enter the mountains at the same time for the 5th event (with Ingo). Each event unlocks a new line of daily dialogue from Joltik and starts a cooldown for the next event to not start until after 4 days.
The final (7th) event requires 9 hearts with Joltik!
