My 1.5.6 modpack has Custom Music with all MissCoriel's music packs and many Fashion Sense mods (all known to cause SMAPI to load slower), my 1.6 modpack doesn't have either Custom Music (ofc) and Fashion Sense.
Error margin is 1 second more or less.
I redid the same tests 3 times to ensure more precise results.
1.5.6 with 626 mods [WITH FASTLOADS]:
From opening SMAPI: 1 minutes and 9 seconds.
From Menu to In Game: 1 minute and 8 seconds.
Total: 2 minutes and 3 seconds.
1.5.6 with 626 mods [WITHOUT FASTLOADS]:
From opening SMAPI: 1 minute and 10 seconds.
From Menu to In Game: 3 minutes and 54 seconds.
Total: 5 minutes and 1 second.
Conclusion: 1.5.6 WITH FastLoads loads 60% faster.
1.6 with 374 mods [WITH FASTLOADS]:
From opening SMAPI: 1 minute and 2 seconds.
From Menu to In Game: 1 minute and 25 seconds.
Total: 2 minutes and 47 seconds.
1.6 with 374 mods [WITHOUT FASTLOADS]:
From opening SMAPI: 0 minutes and 59 seconds.
From Menu to In Game: 1 minute and 21 seconds.
Total:2 minutes and 3 seconds.
Conclusion: 1.6 WITH FastLoads loads 35% slower.
What does these mean? It means FastLoads is not efficient at the current state in 1.6 (since it was made for 1.5.6 and hasn't been updated for 1.6), but that doesn't mean it couldn't become efficient again if it were updated to 1.6 update. 1.5.6 with Fastloads loads at the same time than 1.6 with less 252. This means FastLoads made 1.5.6 60% more efficient when compared to 1.6 without FastLoads (best results).
@Konipaku As someone who plays with too many mods, Fast Loads was a godsend. Not only did it make a noticeable difference in load times, but my game wouldn't crash after 300 mods. I was able to play with 432 mods, with Fast Loads. You mentioned Concernedape did update the code for better loading times, which is validated by my still playing with 426 mods currently in 1.6. However, the load times still take a bit compared to what I remembered dealing with in 1.5 + Fast Loads.
Could be my imagination, though, but I'd love to see an improvement if possible. ♥
Although he updated the bug, it still has load timeouts when I try to start the game. So, I really NEED this mod!!! Looking forward to the 1.6 update!><
Hello! I figured I would be a perfect person to test this out, since I have (as of this test) 1978 Mods (or that's what my SMAPI reads it as, anyways.) Let's just say: A lot of mods.
So - in comparing this with Sprite Master, here is what I found.
From opening SMAPI (in exactly the same way both times, or as exact as I can get) to the Menu: Sprite Master: 12 minutes and 25 seconds Fast Loads: 11 minutes and 1 second
From Menu to In Game: Sprite Master: 11 minutes and 25 seconds Fast Loads: 5 minutes and 5 seconds.
CLEARLY a huge difference! Yippie! (Let's not talk about how I literally spent like 45 minutes doing this)
I've walked around a bit with Fast Loads to test it in comparison with Sprite Master and how the game feels, and neither of them feel different from one another in that aspect (I think maybe the loading screens are faster with Fast Loads?)
Anyways, if this isn't a clear endorsement of this mod, I don't know what is. I'll keep a look out for any errors I experience.
Note: I was going to try them both together, but as was explained, they both do a similar thing (or at least, Fast Loads does a similar thing as one part of Sprite Master) so that might not be the best idea.
Minor update: This ABSOLUTELY helps far better than Sprite Master. There might be some things I'm missing, but from playing through a few days as I normally would, I've seen that not only are the load times between screens monumentally faster - but so are the day changes, AND it speeds up these freezes I get at certain times of the day when a lot of schedules are switching at once (they used to be a minute or so, now they're just a couple of seconds). Bravo and thank you for this mod :]
Hehe, I didn't see this for some reason, but uh, I've collected them over the course of three or so years :] I don't know how long it takes without fast loads, but... I don't think I WANT to know actually. I could do it to also show how good Sprite Master and Fast Loads are as mods, but ... I loathe to think how long that would take.
Thanks you so much for this mod ! Got discouraged of playing modded stardew cause my game keep taking 10 years to load and this mod completely fix that !
Is there anyway to fix the lag spikes when leaving and entering a building? ;-; I dip -10 frames every time! And it also happens when I open my inventory for the first time when I enter and exit a building every time!

This mod is incompatible with SpriteMaster!
This mod is not needed for 1.6! You can safely remove it, it does nothing. 1.6 has solved the slow loading problem properly.

Thank you for studying the load times.
"Significantly reduced save loading time when there are many custom locations."

How long does loading take you when you start a new game without FastLoad, 30 minutes? 😂

This mod is life changing. Loading a save went from taking a few minutes to around 30 seconds. It's unbelievable!!
