i just wanna say that hamsters cant be put in these ball things cuz its bad for them anddd if u ever update this mads, will we be able to remove the ball things? cuz it kinda makes me sad hgaha
hi! u're absolutely right that the classic exercise balls (like the ones shown here) are not recommended and are often dangerous or harmful to hamsters for a variety of reasons.
unfortunately, i only learned this fact when i was about halfway thru making the art assets for these cool looking death traps. u can imagine my bewilderment as i tried to sort out this dilemma.
ultimately, i opted to keep the balls in the mod since i worked hard on them and i like how they turned out. i like to pretend that Maru designed them so animal safety is insured thru humane engineering :)
alternatively, u can do a simple personal fix if u'd like by copying the ball-less hamster sprites into the folders containing the entrapped hamsters and replace them with the free-range ones as yoba intended.

EDIT: there might not actually be hamster sprites sans exercise ball included in the files -- not sure! my mistake (possibly). the fix then may be to download the og mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/8304) and make a personal edit to this mod to de-sadify it. GL <3
thanks so much! no active plans at the moment. i'm hoping most of it stays working in 1.6 since it's mostly functioning via dependency mods and it appears that those are still being maintained.
Might I ask what part of the mod isn't working for you in 1.6? It's working for me just fine, although I haven´t seen the spouse rooms yet. But the rest is working fine. When loading, SMAPI says that Pelican Town Pets is on an older version of Content Patcher and that compatibility is not guaranteed, but as far as I can see this has no effect, and can simply be prevented by going into the content.json and changing the second line, Format, to 2.5 instead of 1.19. I did notice a little visual glitch in Haley's room when butterflies are enabled and she's in her bed, but it was minor and went away as soon as she got up.
hey, thanks for letting us know! i have not been around in a while and likely won't be back for a while still, but ive started checking nexus here and there. as far as i know, the farmhouse has been changed in 1.6 and depending on how that was done, it *may* impact or break that part of this mod -- unsure. iirc u can also move the whole house now (awesome) so that's another thing i'm unsure about how that affects this or any 1.5 mods. so, be aware that that's something that may happen.
if u're concerned (anyone), make a backup before u do anything that will activate possible problems (e.g. get married, move house, divorce, anything like that with other mods affecting spouse rooms or houses... ) that way u can revert if anything goes crazy. alternatively, u can always uninstall this mod though i'm glad people still enjoy it :)

This makes me unreasonably happy, finally Abigail learns some proper husbandry! Also with the hamster ball issue, I like to think that Maru invented a new kind of hamster ball that doesn't causes the same problems as normal ones :)
