Hey, loving the mod so far! Seems to work just fine in 1.6 for anyone interested. I was wondering though, any chance we could get a version that lets Pam move into the saloon with Gus rather than him move in with her? It always bothered me that he had an extra room above the saloon (perfect for Penny?!?!) and not gonna lie, I thought initially that's where this mod was going, but hey I'm a dumb who doesn't pay attention to the pictures lmao.
If that's not something you'd ever feel like doing, no prob. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks for making this!!
Hi, thanks so much for your comment! I originally wanted Pam to move into the saloon, and I can't remember why I decided not to -- likely something to do with Penny being alone in Pam's big house or Penny marrying the farmer and the house sitting empty. I can definitely make a flavor where she moves into the salon instead, though.
Also, so glad to hear it's working for 1.6 - I haven't finished testing, so this is great to hear. Once the semester ends, I'll have lots of time to work on things, like the great suggestions in these comments, so this feedback and confirmation are both super helpful!
I literally started a new save again yesterday and wondered why these two never get together, even though they even stand together at the Flower Dance.
I just gotta tell ya how much I like this mod. I always thought Gus and Pam got shortchanged on "storyline." My farmer married Penny and one time when he was talking to Pam at the bus stop she said how lonely she was without Penny there. I felt bad for her ever since then. Anyway, great mod! It really livens things up with the dialog and all. Thanks so much!
(PS...I second the Marnie and Marlon suggestion. That's another story that just has to be told!)
Thanks so much, I'm so happy you've enjoyed it! I always felt bad for Pam, too, and it always felt weird that her story was a bit of a dead end. And Gus has even less story than that. It's just a bit of fan fiction to add into the game, but I'm happy so many other players are having fun with it. In a future update (probably pretty far in the future yet, since I haven't started writing them and 1.6 is coming), I plan to add some more events specifically for players who are married to Penny so that they really feel like part of the family. :)
One suggestion would be to come up with a way to detect whether SVE has been installed, and automatically toggle the SVE option in the config to "yes" if it has been detected as one of the mods. As far as switching from unmarried to married, you could have a heart event where Gus or Pam actually ask you (as you are such a good friend to both of them at this point), what your thoughts are on the matter. If you answer in the affirmative, then they get married, and if you don't, then unmarried stays on. Integrating those into the actual gameplay, would make the mod flow a bit better than having to toggle this in the settings at the appropriate time, etc.
Oh my god, you've written this so well! I freaking LOVE character stories like this and Always had a soft spot for Gus. Never so much for Pam, in fact I've historically disliked her. But this mod has changed my mind big-time. MAD PROPS BROTHER, this is the first mod I've ever endorsed, so enjoy :D
Also I'd be super excited to see if you ever have more projects in the works!!!
Thank you very much!! I'm so happy that you enjoyed it and that it made you think twice about Pam. I also used to dislike her (or rather, pretty much ignored her), until I started thinking about why she is the way she is and why people hate her but love Shane.
Thank you for your amazing comment and for the endorsement, as well! I definitely plan to write more in the future! :)
