Tired of items moving all over the place when you try to sort out your chest? Want your items to stay put? Groupable Chests has you covered! Sort out your inventory however you want, with whatever empty space you'd like.

Groupable Chests allows you to arrange items in your chests however you like. When you take an item out, it leaves a space. When you put an item in, it goes in the first empty space/stack with the same type. If you don't grab an item, it will stay put. Items that are the same will be placed next to each other in the chest when possible! However, be warned: if you push a chest around, the items will get pushed all together.
You can use your movement keys (like WASD) to move the most recently added item in the chest around freely to put it exactly where you want!
Hold Left Ctrl when depositing items to prevent stacks from combining, if you want to keep separate groups of the same item.
The fridge in the farmhouse now works! If anything funky happens with your fridge (like some kind of bug!), turn off the "MaintainFridge" config option; as a result, the mod will leave your fridge all disorganized if you use the last of an ingredient stack, but may fix the issue (but still report it here for me to fix it as well).
Future plans: A drag-and-drop system a la Minecraft or the player's inventory may be a possibility but I have yet to figure out how it could be done. If that's something you're interested in, leave a post and let me know to give me some encouragement!

Installation:
- Install the latest version of SMAPI.
- Unzip the mod folder into Stardew Valley/Mods.
- Run the game using SMAPI.
- Compatible with...
- Stardew Valley 1.5.6 or later;
- Linux, macOS, and Windows;
- single-player and multiplayer (even if other players don't have it)
- Most mods; mods that assume chests will contain no empty space (Automate, possibly) may have issues with this mod
- Overworld Chests: If you take the first item from an Overworld Chest, it will destroy the chest early. Take that one last and it works fine.
- Better Chests: Most features will work fine. Here are the known conflicts:
Filter Items: This feature will not work.Stash Into Chest/Auto Organize/Transfer Items/Unload Chest: Will mess up any arrangements made with this mod.
