I ran into some major PC trouble and lost all my work (all old work, works in progress, and future plans) and also lost my ability to continue to do mod work. But, with a combination of a new PC and a new drive for making these mods, I'm trying to get back into the saddle. The hiccups: my new PC is a hand-me-down and is of an OS I am not familiar with. (Ubuntu) I do need to learn basics for this OS before I can relearn XNB Node, not to mention I still need to find new image editing software that is compatible, attempt to salvage my old files and rough drafts, etc. There's A LOT going on, but I do plan on getting back into Stardew Valley and looking for more inspiration on new a beautiful horses to bring you guys!
Keep you all posted! <3
EDIT: I can not find any good way to make and edit xnb files on Linux, so until I get my modding laptop repaired, I am unfortunately going to have to postpone any and all future updates. I am so terribly sorry for those of you who've been waiting so patiently for certain breeds or recolors. Disappointing you guys weighs heavily on me. I plan to return and make it up to you all. <3
Hey all! I'm back after such a long time and I've much to fill you in on. Let me get the bad news out of the way: 1) I've been locked out of my main email. What this is going to mean for me is that I'm no longer able to log in to my main Nexus account nor my main Discord. I've contacted both through my secondary email and both have told me I'm out of luck. =/ 2) Due to this lock, I may be seeing to having this mod's page deleted. I fully plan on re-uploading all files in the near future, so I won't remove these one's until I have done so. 3) Again, due to the locks, I've been unreachable, and am still in the process of finding ways to get in touch with everyone. I'll provide what methods to reach me I can by the end of this post.
Good news, on the other hand, I have a new PC and can now get to modding again. I've begun re-downloading all my files, going to see what I had planned, work on some new ideas and I plan to get a Better Horses 2.0 up in the near future up to date with Content Patcher and horse hats!

Dapple Grey and Knabstrupper unfortunately never got finished due to PC failure. I also lost the old files and progress I'd made on them. I'll be getting them up first thing after reupload. Just gotta start from scratch! x'D
Thanks for the reply to this, the Dapple Grey is definitely my favorite looking horse in real life and I'd be super happy to have it in game! (if you can get around to it that is) Thank you for your work on all these horse sprites, they are a great addition to the game.
These were so cool to use, thank you so much for sharing them! This was one of the first Mods / replacement xnb. files I'd ever used, and they made the game a lot prettier. Thanks again :)
Hey I just tried to install it after the big 1.4 update, but it says the mod cannot run because it isn't a SMAPI mod. I never had this problem before the update. How can I fix this? Did I miss a step? Thanks!!!
These are retextures, not mods. Go to the Contents folder (instead of Mods) and then into Animals, then copy your horse.xnb file and save it elsewhere as a backup just in case or if you want to revert back to the normal horse. Then once you've downloaded these files find the texture you want, go back into Contents > Animals and replace the existing horse.xnb file with the one you've copied and want to replace it with.
If you want to use Content Patcher so that the icons also change to match your horse one of the users below provided and unofficial version: https://community.playstarbound.com/threads/migrating-xnb-mods-to-content-patcher-packs.141577/page-117#post-3347640
If you go that route you'll have to sign up for the Chucklefish forums, download the files into the Mods folder (I had to create the [CP] Better Horses folder first and then download files into there). Run once to get the config.json file and then update as desired (more details in the readme file).
I just went through the steps with the content patcher and it works great, hope that helps :)
I plan to address this in future updates! Sorry for the absence on my part-- total PC failure! XoX I had no way to make any changes until now. I just need to get things in order and I can begin modding again! Thank you for your patience. (And thank you, kzitnik and hiabara, for that work-around! I'll have to make note of that. :D)
Hey, great mod, been using Friesian for a while and i absolutely love it. However it needs to be noted that since we now have the ability to put a hat on your horse, doing so while using one of the taller re-sprites will look fairly weird, as the vanilla horse's stature is lower, the hat will hover in a strange position, covering the horse's eyes.

I would like to use your Blue Roan and Black Forest 2 assets in a mod I've made, all credit would be given of course.
Thanks,
