****This mod is in ALPHA release stage. It has no currently known issues, but is likely to contain bugs, extraneous code, etc, and the documentation is under constant improvement. **It is safest to update between saved games, as there's a chance BFAV will lose context for your custom males and revert them to white cows / chickens.
Function:
Breeding Overhaul is a Stardew Valley mod that aims to revamp the vanilla breeding system when used in conjunction with Animal Husbandry Mod (formerly ButcherMod) and Better Farm Animal Variety. Json Assets (DGA version will be out at some point), Producer Framework Mod, and Content Patcher are all also required for full function.

All normal farm animal types now have a male counterpart, which has a unique deluxe drop necessary for breeding. Use their species-specific DNA in the Animal Husbandry Mod insemination syringe instead of normal produce, or craft fertile eggs for the incubator. Males also produce manure, which can be processed into quality fertilizer. A few vanilla animal skins that looked too much like males (goat, duck) have been edited to appear female, and new egg types and sizes have been added.
As of the 1.1.0 update, manure is processed in the manure composter instead of the recycling machine, and the various male drops are processed using the genetic extractor instead of the recycling machine. If you'd like your BFAV Bison to use the new machines instead as well, you should head over and nab the 1.1.0 update for that mod too. Always delete and replace files instead of overwriting them when updating.
Although a set of default males are included, this mod is fully configurable, and supports content packs. With a tiny bit of config tinkering, you could replace my included males with a set like Paritee's, or add a content pack for your favorite BFAV animal set. See an example of a content pack that adds new breeding function for a BFAV animal under 'optional files'.
If you are using my farm animal skins, the matching male skins for every current variant have been uploaded under optional files.

- Large eggs will have a chance to hatch 2 chicks each if you have space
- We are working on a GUI modification to add gender symbols to the animal information screen for easy identification
