It doesn't work, instead it's recommended you use Convenient Chests. BTW in the future you can go to https://smapi.io/mods/ to find if a mod is up to date and if not where to get something either like it or an unofficial update for it.
Okay, hear me out, gonna leave this here in case anyone has the same problem as i did and just happens to stumble upon this comment.. THIS IS FOR THE UNOFFICIAL version going around. i was having a problem with another mod "remote fridge storage", where you make it so you can see items on normal chests when you are cooking. The problem was that the items weren't getting consumed. To fix this issue go to the config file in this mod folder, and where ir says ´ "CraftFromChests": true, ´change it to ´ "CraftFromChests": false, ´. since that feature doesn't even work as of now.
