**Important note (Apr 10) I goofed up, I didn't see the new portraits for the seasonal outfits so it may take a bit longer to get even the portraiture version ready. I'll try to get them done as soon as possible but for the time being the portraiture version of the 1.6 vanilla portraits is out now.**

**Important note for all our mods: We will be updating for 1.6 but I don't think we'll have them ready on release day. It may take a few days after then but we will update them as soon as possible.**

Hello, can anyone help me with how to use this mod with portraiture?

I have placed all the .png files in my 1OXTALK folder. So just like this, Portraiture > Portraits > 1OXTALKOH

I'm struggling to figure out what the could the issue be, I've been communicating with villagers and realised that some of the portraits are working--like, Harvey's Harvey_Hospital is working as it should, but oddly enough, Harvey_Spring isn't. It's the same with the rest of the villagers... I would appreciate any help, please and thank you!

Update: So, I tried playing around with the names of the .png. When I removed _Spring, it seemed to have worked! But now came the issue; the seasonal .pngs wouldn't work at all... I tried putting the _Spring back and jumped to Summer, but their _Summer would not activate at all... I'm stuck wondering how to make the seasonal .pngs work....

Update 2: So, I chose a victim to experiment on and decided it should be Pierre since he's close and easy to access.

All right, so, foolishly, I was wondering how come the Seasonal Cute Characters' mode was able to change the portraits along with the sprites. So I decided, why don't I switch the .png with the ones from 1oxnes and talkohlooeys' Seasonal Portraits mod, just to see what's up... so I did it with PIerre's:

Then by looking at the code, this appeared. Finally, the problem. [Content Patcher] Can't apply image patch "Seasonal Cute Characters > Pierre Seasonal Include > assets/Code/Pierre.json > Pierre - Seasonal (Portraits/Pierre)" to Portraits/Pierre: target area (X:0, Y:0, Width:512, Height:768) extends past the right edge of the image (Width:128), which isn't allowed. Patches can only extend the tilesheet downwards.

      ??

I am filled with confusion. Maybe it's quite simple, but It's currently 5:32AM, and I really... want sleep... so hopefully I'll be a lot more awake tomorrow-today? To figure this out. At first glance, it made no sense to me, since how come Harvey_Spring was able to work when I removed the _Spring. The size shouldn't be the issue? Or is it? I can't think anymore...

Don't move the portraits inside the portraiture mod folder! Put it into the regular mod folder, not the Portraits folder. Keep the portraiture mod folder as it is. You do need to go inside this mod's folder and change the manifest file. Open it, and set the HD Portraits dependency to false.
Then in game, you just need to find someone to talk to, and when the dialogue box opens up, press p to change to the correct portraits. The 1.6 Portraiture update added in compatibility for HD Portraits mods, so you'll even see a smaller box appear above the dialogue box saying HDP when you select the correct portraits.

My guess as to why they don't work, is because these portraits were made to replace the portraits from the seasonal cute characters mod, not the in game portraits. Portraiture will not make that connection, cause the mod's code was written for the HD Portraits mod. So any seasonal files (spring, summer, etc.), portraiture will not read, as we don't have those seasonal outfits in game. But by installing it just as you would with the HD Portraits, by moving it to your mods folder, portraiture will recognize this mod as an HD Portraits mod, and only then, read it's code.

For anyone having issues with Leo and Professor Snail's portraits not working, I was able to fix the issue by going into the mod folder and renaming every instance of 'ParrotBoy' and 'SafariGuy' to 'Leo' and 'Professor Snail' respectively (no underscore between 'Professor' and 'Snail').

This included renaming the 'ParrotBoy' portrait folder, the PNGs inside that folder (rename 'ParrotBoy_Spring' to 'Leo_spring', for example), and the 'SafariGuy' PNG (just sitting loose in the 'Portraits' folder).  I also had to go through the 'content' and 'redirect' JSON files, where there are several instance of 'Mods/HDPortraits/SafariGuy' and 'Mods/HDPortraits/ParrotBoy' that needed to be renamed to 'Mods/HDPortraits/Professor Snail' and 'Mods/HDPortraits/Leo' respectively (Ctrl+F to find them all).

Not exactly sure why this works when the base game still uses the 'ParrotBoy' and 'SafariGuy' names for the portraits, but it's a pretty easy fix, only takes a few minutes.  Haven't had a chance to test it across all seasons/festivals, but it's working in Spring of Year 3 at least.  Will post an update if I notice any issues during my playthrough.

Yeah, Qi's portraits weren't working for me either.  Was able to fix them by changing every instance of 'MrQi' to 'Mister Qi'.

That includes renaming the loose .PNG file in the 'Portraits' folder, along with going through the 'redirect' JSON in the 'data' folder and changing the three instances of 'Mods/HDPortraits/MrQi' to 'Mods/HDPortraits/Mister Qi'.

Seems to work when talking to Qi in the Casino and in the Walnut room.  Not sure about any cutscenes though.

I think the seasonal portraits aren't working for me because it needs HD Portraits, and HD portraits needs AeroCore which has been abandoned... very sad. I guess I'll have to delete the HD Portraits dependency or set it to false... Will update how it goes.

EDIT: Yeah, unfortunately, setting the HD Portraits dependency to false didn't do much.  Still doesn't work, except for during fall I got it to work for some characters, like Emily. But yeah, like that other comment said, it doesn't seem to work for winter.

But I'm excited for the 1.6 update of this mod! This mod looks really awesome and I appreciate your hard work!!! :D

The person who made HD Portraits is also the person who made AeroCore, so they're working on making HD Portraits work without it, but that's going to take a while.

Delete the dependency (as youve done) in the manifest, then move the folders inside Talks mod into portraiture. Use P to cycle through portraits when you speak to someone. Voila!

The portraits from Talks mod need to go here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods\Portraiture\Portraits

Is anyone else having an issue in 1.6 where while on Ginger Island the beach portraits aren't loading? I'm getting their regular seasonal portraits instead.

When using this mod, my farm body shape will change, my legs and shoes will look different, and the color of my eyes will no longer be displayed. The background color will be revealed, which makes me very distressed. Without using this mod, everything will return to normal. What exactly is the problem? If anyone knows why, please make sure to tell me. Besides, the portrait can be used normally, and I really want to use it, which is really important to me.

Um, I got this message, just figured I would report it. The seasonal portraits aren't working for me, unfortunately.

[Content Patcher] '1oxnes and talkohlooeys' Seasonal Portraits' has multiple patches with the 'Exclusive' priority which load the 'Mods/talkohSeasonal/Robin' asset at the same time (1oxnes and talkohlooeys' Seasonal Portraits > Include assets/data/redirect.json > Load Mods/talkohSeasonal/Robin #1, 1oxnes and talkohlooeys' Seasonal Portraits > Include assets/data/redirect.json > Load Mods/talkohSeasonal/Robin #2). None will be applied. You should report this to the content pack author.[Content Patcher] '1oxnes and talkohlooeys' Seasonal Portraits' has multiple patches with the 'Exclusive' priority which load the 'Mods/talkohSeasonal/Penny' asset at the same time (1oxnes and talkohlooeys' Seasonal Portraits > Include assets/data/redirect.json > Load Mods/talkohSeasonal/Penny #1, 1oxnes and talkohlooeys' Seasonal Portraits > Include assets/data/redirect.json > Load Mods/talkohSeasonal/Penny #2). I saw a post earlier about using this for portraiture, I'm not sure if they meant the seasonal portions as well since portraiture can't process seasons other than winter. So if you'd very much like to see the seasonal ones on portraiture, do this. When you go into the portraits folder in portraiture, you'll need to create your own folder to place photos in it for it to work in game. Clicking P in game to see it. Well, just make ANOTHER folder in the portraits folder, and then add the season ones. But delete the seasons next to the name and just do their base name. Example would be Maru_Spring. Delete spring and just make it Maru. You'll need to do that for all portraiture names other than the winter ones and special case ones like beach ones, work place, other expansions etc. SO I will do a step by step to refer to easily

    1. Download most recent alpha portraiture mod, unless they update it then just do the 1.6 one they add in later
    2. Place portraiture into your mods folder
    3. Go into portraiture mod folder, and into the portraits folder.
    4. Left click in the folder to create a new file and name it what you'd like. But if you want seasons I recommend making it easier for you and name it the season you'd like, such as spring, summer, fall, and winter if you are extra organized
    5. Copy and paste the photos that are labeled Character _Spring from 10XNES and TALKOHLOOEYS art that should be within their assets folder, into the new folder you made, and left click the photo, click rename and change  it to just their base names, (Maru_Spring to just Maru) remember to still have Maru_Hospital in all of your new folders, if you don't wish to switch between folders in game.
    6. Repeat step 5 for all seasons.
    7. Then when you are in game, you will need to click P on your keyboard when speaking to an NPC, in which you will see their portraits change from Vanilla, to your folder name, and it should stay in that folder until you hit P again later. Constantly hitting P will switch through all your folders. So once it changes season, hit P again, and it will switch to the next folder which would be the next season :).
8.Viola! You have a super extra stepped seasonal portraits! At least until HP portraits updates lol. I'm just super extra and like having all my goodies regardless of updates

I also have other portrait mods  from other creators that I like, and you can place those ones in any of the folders you made as well. I like mixin and matching, even if they aren't seasonal lol. Hope this helps anyone who would like an option like this or just needs extra detailed steps. If there are any questions, feel free to ask! I will assist.

Also to the creators: I LOVE YOUR WORK!!

The seasonal portraits work with portraiture! You don't need to make a separate folder. As long as you have the Seasonal outfits mod (which this mod replaces the portraits of), portraiture does what has been written in this mod's code. Unless there's an issue that I'm unaware of, but on my end, it works. Instead of installing it as a portraiture mod, you need to install this mod just as you would with the HD Portraits (don't move it inside the portraiture folder). Then, you need to open the manifest file, inside this mod's folder, and either delete the HD Portraits dependency, or set it to false. After that, open game, find someone to talk to, and do what you already know, press P until you see the correct portraits. You only need to do this once, and you'll know portraiture recognizes this mod as an HD Portraits mod, as after you press P to get the right portraits, a small box will appear above the dialogue box saying HDP (HD Portraits). You can also read Portraiture's mod description, as it has more info on how to use mods that require HD Portraits with Portraiture instead.

I've only encountered issues during winter (as we don't have the new portraits, and the seasonal portraits mod sometimes uses the new 1.6 outfits for the spouses); during some holidays (for the same reason as the previous one, cause we don't have those portraits with this mod yet); and during tuesdays, if a cutscene happens with Caroline, Robin, Marnie, Jodi or Emily while they're supposed to be exercising, you'll see the exercising portraits instead of the ones for the clothes they're wearing during the cutscene. But there could be more that I've missed.

Oh! I didn’t know you could delete the HD dependency and still have it work with portraiture. If I didn’t already do all my extra steps I’d definitely do it this way 🤣 thank you friend!
