It is unreasonable that the lamp cannot change its position after it has been placed. The lamps that were placed still counted as furniture, so Robin refused to expand the dining room for me. Extremely poor experience.
How can I move a light once it's already been placed? For some reason I can see the lamps now and they aren't movable so now i have random lamps stuck throughout my house
nvm i just read it's permanent. my bad for not reading the description all the way through. Unfortunately my house looks like this now:( https://imgur.com/a/K7lWBr1?
A few tips: 1. Make a backup of your farm so you can revert if you make a mistake and don't notice immediately. (I accidentally put a lamp in the middle of the stairs and then kept running into the invisible pixel later). 2. If you don't do the above and have already slept, you can go back 1 day by following the instructions on this page: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves
Not a big deal at all, but commenting this incase someone else has the same issue I did. When using the Vibrant Pastoral Map Recolor, if you use the furniture recolor part of that mod, for some reason, even though you have the zzz in front of your mod it still shows the VPR edit, maybe because it uses overlay and not replace?
Either way, I fixed it by just deleting the part of their png file that was editing the lamp I was trying to make incorporeal with your mod and now it works as intended. Again, it was a quick and easy fix, but I wanted to comment here just so you know and so if others who use the same recolor I do come searching they know it's not your mod not working, it's VPR being stubborn. lol.
Thank you for sharing this with us by the way!! I've been wanting something like this for a very long time, i'm so excited to have my houses well lit but also not have 100 lamps in it. XDD
Once you place a lamp, it is affixed to the map there permanently. It appears as if the way the game is set up the size of all placed furniture pieces is affixed to the map, no longer pulling data from the furniture's file. For this reason it cannot be moved, even if you remove the mod from your mods folder.
What you can do is place a table or plant or something on top of where the lamp is, it will still produce light, but it might make more sense why you can't walk through there. Before you save you need to be 100% sure that that is how you want it to look.
Read the documentation in the description for a detailed description of the process. I just added a header for it and bolded some of the more important points.
This makes the house tidy and comfortable at night. I love it <3 I visited Robin and decided to remove the lights once to tidy up the room. However, when I set the setting to "false" I can see the lights but can't seem to touch them. I have also tried restarting the game and removing temporary mods. Any tips on how to fix this problem?
Try closing the game. Then removing the mod from the mods folder. Reload the game. Remove the lights. Save. Close the game. And then putting the mod back in the mods folder.
Always back up your save before trying stuff where you remove a mod and save though…
Without the mod in the mods folder if you still can’t touch the lights then that is nothing from my mod. Also I’m not sure what you mean by temporary mods…
Okay actually I think I was able to recreate this. But only on one of my saves and not the other.
I had not intended the lamps to be something you can change after placing them and saving because once you save the game all furniture properties cannot be edited. That's just unfortunately a property of the base game and not something I have control over.
On closer inspection, it appears that if you want to edit where the lamps are you would need to do it from before you saved. Once you save, all placed furniture becomes attached to the save and editing it's properties will only edit the properties of newly placed pieces of furniture not existing ones. It is possible that editing something in the save file would remove the lamps but I am unaware of how to go about that safely.
There are guides out there on how to edit save files but it appears as if all furniture is fairly set in stone once placed from what I can see.
Good luck!
Worst comes to worst you have some light in places it shouldn't be. Think of them as overhead lights, that's what my head-cannon is...
I think if you go into the config and change that lamp back to corporeal, you should be able to move it the next day. And then change it back once you're happy later.
You are correct! Unfortunately by making them incorporeal you also can’t pick them up. But turning them back to normal is easy enough, you will have to reopen the game though I believe. Possibly doable from the config in-game but I don’t think so…
Yep! Working as intended, changing the size of the light radius isn't something that is possible without JA and the whole point of this from my perspective was to make a mod that allowed lighting up your whole house without the use of JA and Spacecore.

Questionm could you make transparent or invisible floor that gives light? I think that would be very effective.

I hope this will help other folks in the future if they are also using that mod!

Thank you for your help (and sorry for the confusion with my poor writing).

Just put a couple of them down!
