      You can in the CP version, but not the DGA. If you want you can make a personal edit so you can sit on the rugs in the DGA version, you'll need to change the furniture type from "rug" to "chair". I just don't want to do it for the official upload.

   How do I get it so the cushions act like chairs without having the content patcher version? I just want to sit

   Can I rename the AT folders to be (AT) Asters Festival Kotatsu - Static, (AT) Asters Festival Kotatsu - Animated to keep things organized and so they don't overwrite other AT mods? Or will it cause it to not work?
