A virus was detected in one of the downloads That’s a false positive. They happen all the time, but more frequently with a new update or a file the antivirus software/your browser hasn’t “seen” many times prior. See the antivirus troubleshooting page on the modding wiki for more information.
To help reassure yourself or confirm, you can click through to the VirusTotal report Nexus runs on every uploaded file from the files tab. This is where you need to click:
Note that it’s not uncommon for there to be some false positives here either — again, especially with a newer file. If you’re in serious doubt, waiting around a week will usually be long enough for antivirus and browsers to realise the file is fine.
If you’re having a problem and need to ask for support
Upload a log to smapi.io, following the instructions there on how to do so even if you think it won’t help. It’s always important.
Explain what’s happening in as detailed a manner as possible. If explaining things will be too difficult for you, then a screen recording (or a recording of your screen with your phone) of the issue happening uploaded to YouTube will help a lot.
Don’t worry if you need to use translation software to translate your messages — that’s perfectly fine. Or feel free to post in your native language and I can translate myself.
If you don’t follow the two steps above, it will take longer for me to both get around to your problem and to solve it because I’ll need to ask you to do them anyway.
Thanks for this mod. I came back to Stardew after a couple of months and just couldn't get it working any more. Didn't matter if I used my old modded built, or a complete fresh install, I always got a blackscreen with sound on start-up. I finally managed to get it working, by going into startup-preferences and set windowMode to 1. But the standard windowed mode is pretty small, so your mod is amazing for that.
Still need to properly dial it in though. Setting the windowed resolution to 1440p also causes the game to be stuck on a black screen, but 1080p works well so far. It's a bit more "windowed" than I would like, but still better than a black screen at full resolution ;-)
Though it would be nice, if you could set SMAPI as a requirement. It's probably obvious, but I tried to minimize possible problems, and since it didn't list it as a requirement, I tried it without it. Which, probably obviously, didn't work.
The typical location I referred to is the config.json file that gets generated in the mod folder when you first run the game with it installed. Editing it from there should be pretty straight-forward. Do let me know if you can't figure it out! Without any changes to the config, the mod will do nothing.
And thanks for saying this, by the way. I hadn't considered how unclear that wording might be towards people new to modding Stardew before. I'll be changing that now!
That's definitely odd! Is it cut off about equally on all sides? If it is, there might be some kind of overscan setting you can play with on the TV that's set incorrectly for your PC's input?
Without knowing exactly how it looks, it's going to be tough to say whether this could do anything about it.
I've tried changing the settings and it doesn't help. It's only with SDV that this happens, with other games the size is perfect. The left and right sides are cut off and it becomes impossible if I want to delete a save. The top and bottom are normal (https://imgur.com/a/gOXgsdJ)
Oh, now that just looks like your UI scale is set too high for the resolution of the screen! Unfortunately, Stardew can go down to 1280x720, and... at that resolution, most UI zoom/scale settings will make some of the UI unusable.
All you can really do at that point is to go into the setting in-game, and reduce the UI scale and keep experimenting with it until everything's always visible.
Hello! This mod is really great, and I would like to make a small suggestion. If I start the game, click on full screen mode, and then switch back to the window, but it doesn't return to the set size, can you implement this? (I am using translation software. If there are any grammar errors, please apologize~)
1. If it is possible, some may want to fine tune their window positioning. Not sure how one would implement that, based upon how the current mod is used a player has to know their screen resolution in order to fine tune their window size to their specific needs. I would assume if you made use of this option it would be similar in fashion for configuration, which would mean a player would need to know the specific position of one of the corners of the window for your mod to lock the window to. Therefor, not very intuitive, so not the best idea in my opinion.
2. Also, again if it is possible and within your capabilities, maybe a "Manual" sizing option. The player manually resizes their window, and the mod remembers that window size, and keeps it for next Game Launch. This could theoretically also be applied to the first of these possible ideas, if you can have your mod remember where the window is when the game was shut down, and reposition the window at that same spot when the game launches. I think this is ideally a better way to implement your entire mod in my honest opinion, but I am no coder, and I have NO IDEA how difficult such a feature would be to produce. And even if you did take on the daunting task of making it work this way, the Corner-Hugging feature would still be nice, and would likely be used by 90% of people who use your mod.
Either way, if you integrated my first suggestion, as I already have the size configured, I am golden and this solved a very annoying aspect of the game for me.
If you could work out a way to do possible Idea #2, it would make the mod super easy to use, and easy to change on the fly.
So what may be surprising is that corner hugging is actually by far the most difficult option of all of these, and... honestly, something I think I'm unlikely to spend a ton of effort on any time soon, given it'll need completely different tweaks for Windows, Linux, and MacOS in order to be accurate.
Now what would be surprisingly simple is option 1 and 2 combined. Saving window position? Easy! Saving window size automatically? Easy!
Would that be a good enough substitute for the corner hugging idea?
yes I am looking for something exactly like what you said, I mean, saving the position and windows size would be very enough for my usage so we don't open up and keep resize, reposition every time one by one, I mean, if its easy enough for you to do it, please make it happen! that would be awesome! :)
By the way, do you think it would be compatible with the Lenient Window Resize mod here?
Not the other poster, but I would definitely be interested in using a mod that makes the window smaller. It's a real pity that the original mod doesn't work anymore.
Agree with Jaxyne, I'm sure there are plenty of players out there on laptops or teeny tiny monitors (like 800x600) who don't want the game taking up their whole screen or don't want to tab out to view other windows, they just want a smaller window to play in. And because SDV allows zooming out so far from the character sprite already, I'd hope those players with low resolutions could just max out the zoom-out option and play Teeny-Tiny Dew Valley.
Right now, the SDV window snaps to its original minimum size if you try to shrink it any smaller than 1280x720, but what if it didn't snap? That would be great.
I'll look into that the first chance I get! I think I'll just include it as part of this mod, since it feels a bit silly to split it off into a separate thing.

I was thinking of a Corner hugging config option, for ease of use and implementation.
Options could be as follows.
Cornering Enable/Disable
Corner Options Top-right, Top-left, Bottom-right, Bottom-left.
Other possible ideas I thought of:
