    Hi! I got an error message in SMAPI today that said-

    "[Event Limiter] Ridgeside Village (Content Patcher component) added an event exception using the old data format. This will break in a future version of Event Limiter.

    Please inform the author of this issue."

    I just wondered what this meant and if its a problem, especially cause of the new vanilla update. Thank you!

      Hi,

      This is just a warning that the Ridgeside Village content pack added event exceptions in a way that will not be supported by Event Limiter in the future and to let the mod author know so it can be updated. It won't cause any problems.

    A good suggestion, make a setting that make event limiter never ignore date events based, like Sam's event that need to be triggered in a specific time scale. Also make it compatible with custom events.

    Hey! I wanted to let you know this mod has been really great to keep the game light and immersive, as it helped me focus on every day tasks instead of keeping track of the cutscenes. I do have one problem regarding the Special Quests Board on Ridgeside Village, and I don't know what to do. I didn't get the cutscene in Pelican Town, but the board became available  anyway so I didn't mind. However, the Special Board in Ridgeside didn't activate, apparently because it requires me to see the cutscene at Pelican Town first (?) I wondered if there's any way to fix this.

      Hi,

      Sorry for the trouble! The special orders event will likely play eventually even if the board has shown up since the event is triggered by playing at least 57 days (it won't be lost simply by the board appearing). You could try going into town first thing in the morning to try and trigger the event before reaching an event limit.

      You could also force it to play by typing "debug ebi 15389722" into the SMAPI console, which should then unlock the Ridgeside event. Just make sure an event limit hasn't been reached first.

      Sorry again for the trouble, I'm looking into whitelisting some important story progression events for a future update so this may be prevented in the future.

      I tried the debug command, but the console first said the event was not found, so I tried again, and it said there was no output. Anyway I'm relieved to know the cutscene will trigger eventually, so I'll continue playing and wait for it. Thank you so much for replying!😊

    I'm sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you could make the event take a certain amount of time? This may be a very troublesome request, but I think it's a nice idea and that you have the motivation to create such mods that make the game more immersive. In any case, I love the mods you make, they are extremely creative!

      Hi,

      I'm glad you enjoy my mods. Unfortunately, I think limiting event time would be out of scope for this type of mod since it would introduce a lot more caveats.

    Is it possible for this mod to exempt events for a whole mod?
    Example all the the events from Mod "Friend of a friend"

      At the moment it is not currently possible unless the mod declares its events as exceptions.

      I've had a chat with the author of Friend of a friend and they may implement their events as exceptions in the future.

    Aside from using the lift on Ridgeside, what are other events that are recommended to include in exemption?

      Hi,

      Personally, I'd recommend putting in the two events from Jodi's quest to bring a Largemouth bass to dinner since these events occur later in the day, when the day limit is likely reached. They should have the ids of 94 and 95. Smaller, less intrusive events can also be a good idea if they impact too much on the set limits.

      I believe Ridgeside Village already registers the lift events as exceptions, so no need to include those in the config yourself.

      One more question,

      Since i don't know the event id's yet, 

      For example i saw this event "id sample" then after it happened I include it on the exception list. Does it still count towards the limit?
      Or I need to restart my day for it not to count towards the limit?

      Unfortunately, you will need to restart the day since the event has played before it was made an exception.

    Any way you can make things 100% exempt? Currently exemption is only for whether or not the event can happen after another. This is a problem when using things like "Friend of a Friend" or "Ridgeside Village" mods. The Ridgeside lift cutscene (both going up and going down) are taking a daily event slot (RSV), as do friend notifications at the start of the day (FoaF) despite being in exemption list. 

    Examples in case I'm not clear enough at explaining:
    2 friendship notif at start of day + 1 lift up to ridgeside + 1 heart event + 1 lift down from ridgeside = 5 events and you can't get more (if limiter set to 5)

    5 friendship notifs at start of day can happen even with limit and eventsinarow  are both set to 2 because they are in exemption list, but there can be no other events seen that day since limit is surpassed.

      Sorry to hear about the trouble, that can definitely be an issue with Event Limiter as it currently stands. It shouldn't be too hard to add a config option so exempt events don't impact the event limit. I'll look into it.

    Hi, I like this mod a lot, but I'm wondering if it's possible this mod could be crashing my game periodically. Every so often my game crashes right as it's loading an event. The event never plays, it crashes at the black screen right before it. It always happens before an event triggers, so I'm thinking it probably has something to do with mods that mess with the playback of events. The only two mods I have that mess with it are this one and event repeater. I'm just wondering if there's a chance this mod could be causing it?

      Sorry you're having trouble! It's unlikely that Event Limiter would be causing that problem.
      If you are able to provide a SMAPI log of when the issue is happening I might be able to let you know for sure.
