Just looking at the Mod and some ideas came to me.
?1. Have the Wizard sell the Wands, S/He can describe effects and offer the correct ones by skill level.
?2. Add a new skill Magic. It would increase with the years and combat experience (Magic Skill Level = Year + 1/2 Combat skill) so it would take at least five years to max. You could also add other skills into the mix, I could see Farming and / or Crafting but at 1/3 or 1/4 drop fractions.

Considering Hogwarts is a seven year school. this would line up nicely (IMO)

I'm not into modding/coding but could test

This is so cool!! I love Harry Potter so this is like a dream come true for me. Also, I really love how each wand has its own special effect! Thank you for this mod! ^^

Hey! I was looking to see what kind of weapon mods are available for Stardew, and didn't really find much of anything but sprite replacements. Then I looked at recent uploads and saw your mod here, and given the little bits of magic all over Stardew, it seemed appropriate enough, so I thought I'd try it out.

Mechanically, I think the wands are really neat! Basically just Single Target / Cleave / AoE of different types with each doing less damage per projectile, yeah? That's good enough. It looks cool, it's fun to use, it doesn't have to be much more complex than that.

But they definitely need balancing. I didn't try to use all of them or anything, but the handful I did use in actual combat all seemed incredibly broken. One of the single target projectile wands was hitting mobs at floor 100ish of the mines for 200 - easily 1 shotting them. The AoE oriented wands were hitting for 70s, which is about what I could expect from the melee weapons I'd naturally found by that point... if they crit -- but this is ranged, and has several projectiles, which tend to hit one target more than once if you're in a sweet spot distance-wise.

If that's about what I can expect from most of the wands, I think they all need to be dramatically nerfed. I don't know anything about Stardew Modding, but maybe since Wands right now are one-off purchases from a vendor for a fairly mundane pricetag (just some random crops or artisan goods), they should scale off the Combat Level? I'm level 5 right now. Maybe what I'm experiencing now could be the "level 10" behavior. so if I was Combat Level 1, the 200 damage single target wand would be hitting for 20 instead. (And even if it worked that way, it could probably stand a 20-30% nerf, given the ranged nature of magic).

If scaling in that way isn't possible, the wands themselves need to have different damage values. If that's the case and I just didn't happen to grab any weak ones in my limited testing, would it be possible for you to provide such stats? Even if that currently is the case, it would still need fixing though. There are wands you can buy with Green Beans. Strawberries. Spring Year 1 stuff. Those can't be super strong, or it immediately invalidates getting weapon upgrades and combat levels simply by overpowering everything from the start.

Either balance them in that way, or treat them as "cooldowns" to swap away from your standard weapon for occasionally. ie: increase the recast timer by... like 9 seconds at least.

... OR keep the strong and acting as they do now, but have them cost energy to use, if possible. That might be an interesting way to balance them.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. I think where I'm at in my current playthrough I'll have to put the wands away, but I might pick up some of the cleave/AoE ones by the time I'm going into the Skull Caverns, where hitting something for 78 or whatever won't be super gamebreaking (even if it'd still be stronger than I'd like).

I value your insight on the balancing aspect as I haven't fully tested in an actual Stardew gameplay. As of this moment, I am in the process of creating a Hogwarts expansion mod, which is taking all of my attention. If you have the time and patience, I would like you to help me update the damage and cooldown values, and test the wands. It shouldn't be too hard and I can show you around the mod, if needed. Once you are confident in this modding, you can also help me create wands which players can upgrade to, so that it aligns with their combat level, if you want.
