155 DLs, and nobody endorsed.  That's awful.

I'm coming up on starting a new save file, and if I can figure out how to  use it, this is the map I'll choose.  If you move the greenhouse, do shadows stay where it was?  I'm just wondering, it wouldn't be a big issue for me if it does.

Hello there! Thanks for your interest!
On the subject of greenhouse on map, greenhouse (and also the farm house itself, the mail box, pet bowl and the selling box) is actually a script that creates the appropriate greenhouse there. It isn't an object like trees, rocks etc. I have left the placement of those scripts (nearly all scripts actually) exactly as where they are at on the original map just to make this map as safe as possible in case it might cause an unforseen issue or a glitch later or after a new update. On your original question about the shadow of the greenhouse, that shadow is completely tied to the greenhouse itself, it is not an object you place by hand on the map. So if you were to move the greenhouse, it would also move the shadow aswell.

Is there a reason for the stairs on the far right or is it just flavor?

Sure, those 2 sets of stairs provide access to the little hills.
You could perhaps plant some trees there, or come around to harvest the wild bushes for fruit when they have any, or place some lightning rods, or a bench to sit down and watch your farmlands. Or you can just let it be as it is as a wild hilltop. It's your property, after all.
