ISSUE #1: My baby/child looks like the original version from Stardew Valley
SOLUTION: The new Config file requires all options to be compatible with each other for the mod to work. For example, if your config file reads as follows:
-"Kippah": "True", -"Kippah Color Scheme": "Alex", -"Joja Male Toddler": "True",
In this case, SMAPI will not apply the changes and your child will look like the default toddler from Vanilla SDV. ("Kippah": "True" and "Joja Male Toddler": "True" are not compatible with each other, since both "Kippah" and "Joja" options cannot exist at the same time). Please be sure only one "True" option is chosen for baby/toddler sprites.
ISSUE #2: My baby/child looks like Abigail. How do I change this?
SOLUTION: Double-check you’ve entered the correct data into your config file. The default appearance for each baby/toddler will always be Abigail because that’s how it’s set up in the coding.
To change this, go into the “config” file and change the settings from “Abigail” to your preferred spouse, skin tone, or other preferred settings as listed in the "readme" file. Be sure to keep any “ ” symbols, as they are necessary for SMAPI and Content Patcher to read the information properly. Any misspelling or incorrect syntax will either result in your baby/child looking like Abigail or the default vanilla baby/toddler in the base game.
ISSUE #3: My baby/child looks different from the options I've chosen in the Config file
SOLUTION: Babies and toddlers may also appear different from what you've chosen if your specifications don't match the requirements in the Content File. For example: If you'd like your male child to resemble Lance, but your child appears as Alex wearing a Kippah instead, your Config file may look like this:
-"Kippah": "True", -"Kippah Color Scheme": "Alex", -"Male Toddler Color Scheme": "Lance",
In this case, because "Kippah" is labelled "True" in the Config file, SMAPI is overriding any other config details due to coding hierarchy. To have the Lance sprite apply instead of a Joja child, please be sure any "True"/"False" options are labelled "False". This also applies to any other Spouse-based sprites.
*If you are experiencing any issues will babies/toddlers in your save file, please double-check your Config file for any inconsistencies. Any initial questions or troubleshooting concerns regarding sprite appearances will always be redirected back to this sticky note before any further help. If this doesn't resolve the issue, please also link a copy of your SMAPI log before reaching out to me. Any requests for help without a SMAPI log will be ignored. Thank you!*
Unfortunately, there's no way for me to incorporate multiplayer choices for other player's babies/toddlers. They will look the same as the child config. you have set up on your save file. However, there may be a way to incorporate multiplayer choices in Stardew 1.6.
Please be sure you've carefully read the config settings in the Mod Description. If you're still having trouble, please send me a copy of your SMAPI log (not the direct link from your desktop).
Unfortunately, this mod doesn't work with 3 or more children, since those mods only duplicate the child/toddler sprites already existing in the vanilla version, not add new NPC children that can have the sprites/appearance changed.
Hi, I think I have problem number 1, but when I went to the config menu to change the toddler color scheme (which should have been male Joja), there was no "toddler", only a "baby". What am I supposed to do?
SMAPI was giving me an error for this mod, and I found the issue.
The content.json file is looking for a file called elliottmalebabydark.png, whereas the actual file in the assets/Baby_Male folder is called elliottbabymaledark.png.
I fixed it on my own by making both of those names the same, but I wanted to point it out so it could be fixed in a potential update!
Hello, I checked the config settings and everything is set to false. I have the child set to wizard as the npc but they still look like the default toddler. Is there something wrong in the config below? Or does this look right?
Problem solved. It was immersive family. I checkmarked the other section for toddler textures but I guess you can have all options turned off and they still work together.
I'm having an issue with one of my toddlers looking like the config and the other being the default toddler. What do i do? the girl is the default one.
https://smapi.io/log/9d2ee5b3bd4740e2bc9cc9a8e5b8f118this is my smapi log, anyone able to tell me why this mod isnt working? I currently have a female toddler, I havent had my second baby yet. the config menu only gives me the option to change baby gender, who it takes after, skin color, and if its a joja baby. I have the joja baby set to false. Im not sure what im doing wrong, thank you!
I've been enjoying the mod so far, I love how there was so much effort put even into the smaller details and how the children don't look like just some random kid from me and my spouse. But have you ever considered expanding for ridgeside village spouses??
I'm married to June in my current save file and i've just been making do with the asian babies sprites.
