For users coming from the delisted Better Chests mod page, please be aware that Convenient Inventory is not meant to be a replacement for Better Chests, and its sole focus will remain on simplifying and improving inventory management. This is not to say new features will not be added, but just keep in mind that although Convenient Inventory and Better Chests have some overlap in features, the overall focus of the two mods are quite different.
If you are looking for a specific feature from Better Chests, the author has provided a helpful list of mod recommendations:
Convenient Inventory (this one!) for quickly stashing items into chests and locking items in your inventory.
Is there any chance this mod's features can integrate with Convenient Chests for the quick stacking? Specifically that mod's category feature on chests.
It already has its own keybind for quick stacking to nearby chests, but I really like this mod's animations and other features.
It has always been compatible until the latest Convenient Chests update. It shows no errors, but you can no longer stash to chests reliably. When I hit the key to stash, it MAY stash what's already been stacked in my chests, but will no stash anything new that's not already somewhere in a chest. This only happened two days ago, I believe.
These two mods make it so my disabled daughter can easily find and put things away and take things out. Otherwise she gets lost with all her belongings. I am going to ask the current author of Unofficial Convenient Chests to take a look also. These two mods are the two oldest I have beside CBJ Cheats, maybe.
Thank you to the author for all your hard work. We appreciate you!
This is incredibly helpful, thank you! Do you think there's any way an option could be added to be able to ignore certain chests for the quick stack option? I obviously understand if that's outside the scope of this mod, but I wanted to ask. Thank you again for making it!
I upvote this as well. I am currently using Garbage Day and quick stack puts them in the trash. I really wished I could disable this. (edit: ignore this comment, this was meant for another commenter)
Hi! Would it be possible to make all the colors of a flower go in a chest if just one of the colors is present in the chest? And have things like weapons and trinkets go in a chest if the same weapon/trinket already exists in a chest? Do you think something like that is achievable or too much of a hassle to do for what it's worth?
Please, if possible, add categorized chests so that quick stashing only sends items to chests that have that item marked in the chest, like the convenient chest mod(which doesn't have the animation of items traveling, which I really like).
Straightforward and incredibly nifty mod. Essential, really. The multiplayer compatibility is an additional great touch; it seems to work fine if only you have the mod, even if the host doesn't, and then, if others have it, you see the other players' item traveling animation from them when they use the mod themselves to quick-stack. Nice.
An idea: when you hover the "Quick Stack To Nearby Chests" button, the mod shows a "preview" of the target chests - an option could be added to make that also preview the items in inventory that will be moved, by highlighting their icons in some way. Nifty and will allow for better understanding of what is happening and for realizing if you have forgotten to favorite an item that you don't want auto-stored.
EDIT: Maybe it would be nice if you could implement an option to enable searching in chests and in your own inventory, because we can't use the "Searchable Chests" or "Better Chests" mods for that now... Sometimes I can feel "blind" when an inventory is packed and I'm looking for that one item.
Thank you so much for your hard work! Hope you don't mind me asking, is it possible to add a "transfer all" button? Would work well with the "favorite items" option.
Hey, am asking. back to sdv after a break, and dang, better chest is gone. Okay, here's the deal, there a specific function from that mod I need and I can't seem to find it, so it here a way to resize chest to make SOME of them have a SMALLER capacity? Reason is simple. I'm fusing a mix of automate and filtered hopper to create a factory network.SO it will go 100% automatic poroduction of everything, from machine to shipping bin.
For that i need an input chest of the product to process and a SECOND chest of the output to be taken by the hopper to the second junimo netweork. Buuut, the machines don't care WHERE they put the output usually, and i HAVE to make them drop it in the second chest. A workaorund is to fill the first chest with floor tiles so that is has no choice but to drop it in the second chest, but that's long and dumb. So if I could resize my chest to have 1 tile, it would automatically drop the output in the second chest and tadahh!
...
So? Can this be done? And ofc, i don't want ALL my chests to be like that, I could go on if it's a specific CATEGORY of chest that are small, yes, but not ALL of them.
So, honestly asking. If not, i get it, but damn that a shame.
QuickStackRange: How many tiles away from the player to search for nearby chests. If set to "Location", all chests in the player's current location will be considered. If set to "Global" (requires Chests Anywhere mod to be installed), all chests in the world will be considered.
Does Chest Anywhere just need to be installed or do I need to use the range of that mod to "Anywhere"?
I like the idea of being able to craft out of the stuff in my Shed while walking around on my farm, but don't want to be able to access chests on my farm when I'm like in the mine or Skull cave
