Personally I like this idea. I do feel it is a little small though and would benefit with monsters like bats and a special reward for discovering the final area. As a concept it's a really good one for a mini dungeon and a shame it's no longer in development and has been abandoned in the absent hope that someone might find it and improve on it.
Yeah, I know how you feel. That was one of the reason I made this mod in the first place. Then I learned why people were giving up lol. There's very little you can actually do for these kinds of user-added maps.
There's no way for me to place items, there's no way for me to include monsters to fight, and ultimately there is very little reason to explore these maps... So I gave up. :/
My advice would be to talk to the people in the SDV modding Discord. They're all extremely friendly people, and the creator of SMAPI is very active on there, as isn the creator of ALL (Advanced Location Loader).
Those people would be much more in the way of helping you at this point, seeing as how any advice I could give would be several years out of date lol.
@UlithiumDragon As seen in Ridgeside mod, new monsters can be added (but I believe have to be varients of existing mobs? I don't know for certain.) Placing items might be done with the item codes and naming certain things like perhaps even a sign or NPC that has the item spawn code in the name? I'm not going to pretend I know more about it though. I do hope someone continues your work, I think you had a really great start! Thank you for what you have done so far.
You need to remove your mod then if you are refusing to update anymore, or even pass it on to others that are recommending its use with their mod. like FlashShifter
And just who do you think you are to tell any mod author what they "need" to do?! You've got some nerve. Mod authors do this as a hobby - for free - and own you nothing. You don't get to issue any sort of command, ever.
Plus you are completely wrong. This mod being here in (out of date) status makes it more likely for some other mod author to find it and pick it up. Case in point, me. I haven't done any mods for SDV in particular, but I have/am thinking about it. Me finding this leaves the possibility that I might want to pick it up. Maybe. Something that definitely won't happen had I never found it.
But then people like you make it more likely I'd play around with it exclusively for my own use without distributing it, if I felt like doing it at all.
AlthosSilver, I just wanted to second that sentiment from BK3K. It is rude to demand anything of someone that gives you content for free. Be thankful, otherwise you run the risk of looking like a spoiled, ungrateful brat. Since you probably aren't that, you should avoid looking like one.
Maybe im doing something wrong, but i input the oil but it wont open to the next room. it says "Despite the sparkle you saw, there doesnt seem to be anything there."
As I've said, I don't really have much interest in SDV anymore.
However, if someone were to convert the way this mod edits the woods map to completely make it's changes with ALL, any incompatibility issues would be solved
I fixed the map to work with immersive farm however the mod itself seems borken i cant get into the inner dungeon, the thing never removed itself after i put the item in.
It's quite possible that ALL has changed too how it handles triggers like that since I made these maps. I really have no idea, as I don't keep up with SDV or the modding scene of it anymore.
How exactly could I make it more open source? Nothing is encrypted and all of the assets are included. The process to edit the maps is the same as it is for any map for this game.
This mod requires Advanced Location Loader (ALL), and the creator of that framework has stated that he will not be bothering to update any of his mods until SDV v1.3 goes out of beta to stable. Since his mods are all very script heavy and easily broken by code changes, this is very understandable.
But I do intend to update all of my map mods once: - 1.3 goes out of beta. - ALL gets updated.
I really like this new area, it looks gorgeous and even if it is incomplete it already adds a lot to the mystique of the valley as this magical place, untouched by Joja. I seem to have a small problem though: there aren't any hardwood stumps in the forest map now! It isn't even a problem if you are also using the ItemSpawner mod, but I thought I'd ask about that anyway In any case, I'm really looking forward to further updates because it's very good!
(I know this post is quite old, but I'm gonna use it to clear up some confusion.)
Yeah, my method for editing the forest was bad. In the new version, I will make all my necessary edits to the base maps to open up the path to the Jungle Temple using only runtime code, so it will be compatible with any other mod that edits that forest map.
No, this mod is out of date for the moment. I don't think it's even compatible with v1.2, since entax made lots of changes to ALL (Advanced Location Loader) since I created it.
Once v1.3 is out of beta and entax updates both his framework and ALL to it, I will update these maps to work for it.
Unless I hear otherwise, I assume it works just fine with 1.2 (as long as Advanced Location Loader is up to date).
This mod shouldn't need to be updated unless ALL is majorly changed again. :]
------- EDIT: I see my description was a bit confusing. Can you try it and let me know if it works with SDV 1.2? I still haven't updated my game from v1.1 because lots of my favorite mods would break. >.>
Sorry, I can't try it because ALL is not compatible with some of my mods, if i try to use that mod it always resets my farm save to default when i quit the game and load, i will try when they fix ALL

If anyone else wants to pick it up and maintain it, you have my blessing.
I don't know if this has changed in the years since, but I also haven't played SDV in a long time at this point anyways.
