This addon replaces the default Milky Way with new high-quality 8192x8192 textures. It's composed of multiple images of spiral galaxies and some additional editing. The goal is to represent the uniqueness of our galaxy with some creative liberties while having realism in mind.

This addon replaces the default Milky Way with new high-quality 8192x8192 textures. It's composed of multiple images of spiral galaxies and some additional editing. The goal is to represent the uniqueness of our galaxy with some creative liberties while having realism in mind. The texture is composed of real-life imagery of galaxies like NGC 6744, and UGC 12158 and from Nick Risinger's concept art: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Milky_Way_Galaxy.jpg
This addon is always open to change, so feel free to leave your suggestions!
Does this alter procedural generation?
The subsystems texture, responsible for procedural generation, is unchanged, so all of your saved locations within the galaxy should still exist.
Installation:
Extract the zip file and place its contents in SpaceEngine\addons
Remember to delete the "cache" folder every time you install or uninstall this addon!
This addon is always open to change, so feel free to leave your suggestions!
