Its currently easier to just turn up Brightness and Gamma in game and on a monitor then actually use any flash light.
without going into how Lumens work or how Flashlight's and Candle power are measured the light we get in the game is like 10-50candles the lighter is worse and the attachment for the pistol is even worse then that. Its not even remotely close to realistic not when current technology gives us flashlights that are in the 10,000's some are even in the 100,000's of lumens and can be seen from upwards of 3-5miles.
My biggest complaint about the game is the flashlight, lighting and lack of rechargeable batteries.
My own flashlight has a built in recharge pack, lasts for 14days while On @ max brightness (has three settings) and is 12,000lumens. Its bright enough to physically Start a fire at max brightness with the light ring focused down to a point.
This is the extent of what can be done with the light-sources that the game uses. Most of the actual light-source settings are ignored by the game, it is what it is.
I'm not versed enough in unity to create and attach a new light-source to the flashlights. I encourage you to take a crack at it yourself! Maybe you will succeed where I failed.
