    Update V1.2

    Some changes based on suggestions:

I've added more armor slots to be unequipped when character swims, so now, all slots except these ones that usually aren't used for armor parts (ring, necklace, tail...) will be removed. Weapons are unequipped too.

Removed items are saved for player character, so, it's possible to autoequip them when mermaid effect ends, it's disabled by default, but you can enable it using modding tools (See Tweaks section). Items are equipped when delay time ends, except weapons, they are equipped when you exit water (probably you will need them faster if you are under attack.
Note that these changes are player's exclusive, NPCs will autoequip best gear automatically, so probably don't need a redressing system, anyway, if you find issues, tell me.

Might fit more into "races/racemenu" or/and clothing/armour tags tbh.
    Other than that, nice work!

I imagine this probably isn't possible, but it would be nice if it only equipped when you were in deep water. Because it unequips when you're not swimming, it can sometimes unequip when you enter a shallow patch, then get confused and start doing the opposite of what it's supposed to (equipping while on land and unequipping while in water).

Regardless, I've been wanting something like this for years! Thank you!

Game engine apply health penalty when character is diving, so should exist a function to check it, however, I can't find it in common conditions list, probably it checks a value like distance to water surface or similar. If I find a way, I'll try a diving version.

I rly like this mod but I can't get the animations to work. :/
I installed the enchanted mermaid ring, OAR, Armor Clothes and Weapon Framework, Walked with Elegance and put the swimming animations by gunslicer in the fins folder.

The  animations are in the OAR menu, the outfit is changing but the swimming is the same.

    Any advise?

      Possible causes:

-Wrong folder: note that some animations accept gender variation (so, you can place files in male and female folders), and other ones not (so, should be placed in main folder). If you want to share animations for both genders, add files to Fins folder, if you only want them for female, put in FinsF, out of gender subfolders in both cases. FinsF folder includes a female only contition, so, only will be used by female characters. Anyway, if animations are shown in OAR menu, they should be in the correct folder.

-Priorities issues: Maybe you have other mod that also add swimming animations but have higher priority, in this case, edit these values to make them compatible. For example, Fins folder uses 70200 as priority, if you have a mod with swimming animations and priority = 80000, you can decrease priority to 60000, or increase fins priority...

Ok, thanks! Found another animation mod (at the very end of my list) that was interfering. Now I can smell in the water. ^^

Redressing is manually but it is intended that it's not removing gloves and weapons during the swim?

Only armor slots that can conflict with mermaid stuff are removed, I don't need more because I use other mod to undress character, so I can select which slots I want to remove. Anyway, I can edit script to add more slots for a full nude version.

For people that prefer to craft items instead of auto-equipping, I've uploaded a patch for original mermaid outfit mod with following changes:

-Fixed ghost feet issue, also added forearms slot to tail armoraddon to avoid gaps if only tail part is equipped.
-Added some missing keywords like material, vendor, etc to all items for consistence.
-Keywords for custom animations conditions, so, you can use with OAR.
-Items don't include enchantments, but I've added keywords to allow enchantments for all items.
-Added warm survival keyword, mermaids can survive in cold deep waters...

    Update 1.1

I've fixed some minor issues and divided in two versions:

Default version equips items as simple clothes without any enchantment.

    Enchanted version includes these efects:

    -Water breathing for ears
    -Magic armor for top
    -Increased swimming speed for tail

I kind of laugh now, because this was one of the first mods created for Oblivion back in the day... Yet it took so long to create one for Skyrim.

That's brilliant! You change into it when you swim, and change out of it on land. That's exactly what the mermaid mod needed!

Honestly I feel like this could apply to a lot of mods, like changing into different mod clothes to fit the situation, like assassin mod clothes when going stealth or something or samurai mod armor if you equip a katana. This opens up a lot of possible inspiration for auto clothes changing to fit certain situations and I hope other modders see this.

Seems cool. Going to pick this up for my mage build. Now to figure out how to get music to start playing and have a little crab summoned singing "Under the Sea" when you transform.

he he, a framework to play music based on conditions will be a good idea, like OAR but for sounds...

I just realized that this was the mod I had been searching for all my life.
