I have tried downloading (manually) your most recent document a couple of times but 7zip tells me the .rar is an invalid format. Has anyone had any success with the download?
I have a AMD FX(tm)-8320 Eight-Core processor 3.50gz, 16gb ram, Nvidia GeForce 1060 3b graphics card. I typically choose just 1k textures to keep framerates up. Is there a hard rule to using the 4k textures and whatnot?
Project SNNR is also a no-go. Apparantly someone stole the mod and posted it to the Xbox one bethesda.net. The mod author took it down on the Nexus as a result.
I haven't been playing Skyrim for quite some time and yes, plenty of mods unavailable. Somehow I'm back again and realized that the previous mod lists were really crapy. I believe this time, the mod list that I wrote would be a lot stable and no more skimpy armors everywhere.
I'm having trouble with the final piece; the patching section. I'm still new to this modding part and the DynDOLOD does not seem to be working out for me. Wondering if you could help me thru this.
First, why do we even bother to post our opinions on modlists? I mean the modlist belongs to its author and its author alone. Well ... because we want to see our favorite mods and mod authors receive encouragement to do more of their great work! Do I want to see folks vote up my favorite mods, so that those mods get more upvotes, more work, and more emulation by subsequent authors? Yeah.
Second, if we post our own favorites here, perhaps someone else thinks, "Oh, I see where his/her aesthetic is headed," and then if they post a well-phrased "did you know" -- well that that saves us time searching the Nexus and configuring load order. I know it's taken me weeks to "tune" mine.
Section 3 re: trees. Well goodness, no "3D Trees". Good for you! For those that like their trees to appear to scale, and don't fall for simple pyrotechnics. I've tried a lot of different configurations, and still prefer SFO + Enhanced Vanilla Trees. That said, I'd like to hear more about Dibella. EVT is a bit tedious to install, so I wouldn't want to dive into uninstalling to try it.
Section 3 re: grass. My soapbox. I kinda get it. The grass sprayed around by the two Big V mods is ... well, there's lots of it. Lots. Impressively lots. There are numerous problems with that approach, and hence the patches. But my main problem is aesthetic. They ... look ... bland. You know the new mod "Every Tree Different"? Well the Big Vs give you "Every Grass Same". Here, SFO is still king. Yes, I know, I know, it actually exposes some of the ground textures so you actually see them! Still, it presents the best most varied immersive flora. I can't believe SFO is king so many years later. BTW, anybody know why Unbelievable Grass disappeared? It was the only grass mod I ever installed that gave me second thoughts. It was basically best of both worlds.
Snow. I live in a snowy place. I see snow a lot. Maybe too much. Nordic Snow is good snow. Fluffy Snow is not to scale. Imagine you installed Verdant and all the grass was twice your character's height. That's Fluffy Snow. The Fluffy Snow texture needs to be made a lot tighter to look like snow.
Section 5 re: character and NPC appearance is a fine thing. If you want the UNP, then this is a good/typical guide. Not saying it isn't. But, I do wanna say that if you want to simplify your life and still get great results, just do WICO and Diversity and be done with it. Alternate section 5: WICO and Diversity, done. Diversity is a never-ending cornucopia of, "Oh wow, they even did that NPC," and, "Oh wow, it fixed all the eyes," etc, etc. (Note I haven't even bothered to jump through all the WICO twiddling hoops some folks say you need to and I still get great, smooth, consistent results with no glitches.)
Homes: I can't play w/o Adventurer's Basement and Aemir's Refuge. That pairing is my "Elysium Estate". (Everybody loves Elysium Estate. I find it a bit 1990's Napa Valley. Skyrim ain't supposed to be Napa Valley.) Adventurer's Basement and Aemir's Refuge are two extremely lore-friendly compact hyper-functional mods. They're two of the most clever, well-designed mods I've ever seen in any category. There are other good homes, but if you want a simple home "package", then do Adventurer's Basement and Aemir's Refuge plus Elianora's three little houses. A couple of hints: Aemir's Refuge can be confusing at first. Stick with it. Adventurer's Basement adds itself to vanilla homes, including Hearthfire. But it also lets you place a few entrances ... inside other custom home spaces ... like Aemer's Refuge for example. ;)
Do I see right!?! No Open Cities!?! Hurrah! While I uniformly love the author and all his work, I find Open Cities to be somewhat tyrannical. It remodels the outer shells of all the cities it opens, wreaking havoc with other smaller-scope mods that build bite-sized extensions to cities (both in and outside the walls). Clobbers some player homes, etc, etc.
Whoa... to be honest with you, I'm impressed! I've never thought there would be another post regarding the mods that I have and especially such length....... Anyway, what do you mean by "3D Trees"? EVT, I probably saw it but didn't even take a close look at it since I was pretty satisfied back then. SFO, of course, the best mod, still, but again, I was trying something new back then. In general, love the mods you mentioned and WILL take a closer look at it once I'm done with the current play-through. I've been like modding the whole time but never ever ever ever really tried to play it. Now I simply just want to "play" the game. Thanks anyway.
Technically impressive, but the scale is all messed up, on all the various trees, but the main thing is that the conifer branch "tufts" are absolutely prehistorically jumbo-sized.
My own taste runs towards Vanilla++. Everything to scale. Everything as natural-looking as possible. So my taste does not run towards Verdant (flora is not varied enough to look realistic), UNP (too doll-like), Fluffy Snow (not to scale), or 3D Trees (not to scale). All technically impressive and good at what they set out to do, but they don't make for a very convincing Nordic Skyrim in my book.
Oh, and ... I have struggled mightily with ALL the big weather mods. And gone back to vanilla weather plus True Storms and ELFX. Because ... while they all do VERY interesting things with lighting, only about HALF of the weathers each of them does turns out to be a "good thing". They're ALL a mixed bag. The trend right now is to go over-bright, wash out the world, and expose every sub-par LOD and texture seam you have. NAT for instance just breaks my heart. It can be breathtakingly beautiful, and then godawful, and sometimes all you have to do is turn your character 180 degrees for that to happen. So I forfeit the breathtakingly beautiful moments in order to have a very consistent "beautiful enough" experience.
It's ironic. So many mods named "Better This" and "Better That". Truth in advertising, they should more often be called "Different This" and "Different That".
BTW, did I say Adventurer's Basement is awesome? Cuz it IS. And it is never on these kinds of lists. :(
I'm not confident to have a stable game with this mod installed since there are just way too many yada yada yada reasons that'll blow the game up. The game's pretty messed up with a lot of mods already.
Oh ok. Yeah I guess when you also think of it, it causes alot of in game issues not related to crashes. If you have a mod that puts in like bandit groups or new monsters, they usually will start causing issues like the civilians will start panicking or they could get killed by them. ESPECIALLY since Dragons can actually attack you in cities and those fights are usually impossible to do.
Yea I guess leaving that out is understandable and now I think about it, I'm not going to include it in my mod organizer. Kinda don't like adding "Nude" mods so I'll be avoiding those as well. Not the type of guy who wants to be distracted by bouncy breasts/butts and certainly am uncomfortable seeing guys naked.

Finally figured it out. I had to use WinZip. 7zip just won't work with this. Who uses WinZip anymore?

A LOT conflicts with many mods, even with patches for them.
Also, it's not realistic... simply opening a door of a CITY and entering, while you have to... wait for loading screens for entering a... tavern.

Open Cities is one of the most BRILLIANT mods ever made!
Really, if you had to choose the one most impressive best mod ever.
But ... we never choose just ONE mod. We use many, and ...
Totally true that you should never put Open Cities in your game.
Unless it's your only mod ... ever.
