Makes the Skyforge's Weapons and Armor LEGENDARY. My take on the original by darklord4878.

"Maybe you'll remember me when you're making Skyforge Steel, huh?" - Alvor, Smith in Riverwood

"I don't claim to be the best blacksmith in Whiterun. Eorlund Gray-Mane's got that honor. The man's steel is legendary..." - Adrianne Avenicci

"You know, since Kodlak's funeral the Skyforge feels more... awake. It's always been said that the souls of the heroes of old are what give Skyforge steel its strength. But I think the forge knows the greatness of Kodlak's soul. I can't really explain, but it feels like it's... young. I'll wager it could now forge metal the likes of which hasn't been seen since eras long forgotten. I'm eager to try." - Eorlund Gray-Mane

"Skyforge Steel is my art and honor. The Companions need the best, so they come to me." - Eorlund Grey-Mane

"Cicero wants some Skyforge Steel! Sharp, sharp, for easy stabbing!" - Cicero

Whenever you start Skyrim you're bombarded by people in the beginning of the game who talk about the greatness of the Skyforge and how good it's steel is. It's supposed to be a MYTHICAL and ANCIENT forge that is known all across Tamriel. And it only continues as you start to dabble in the Companions questline and everyone is like woah look at Eorland he make such good steel like what the heck it just so goooood ... uh huh. Whenever I heard this I was like WOO IM BOUTTA GET SOME OF THAT GOOD GOOD, little did I know that it's only a point or two better than NORMAL STEEL. Do you know how many normal steel swords I found by the time I got this junk. Like 3 ... ok but I also was already using the imperial sword so hop off. Then after you're at the end of the quest Eorland tells you that the Skyforge is in it's bag now and can make new stuff that puts the old stuff to shame. Ok let him cook what we gonna g... dragur armor? ok may-maybe it's stats are good you know may... it sucks ... it-its as good as iron armor ... its worth nothing ... EORLAND YOU SON OF %$@?&.

THE SKYFORGE IS SUPPOSED TO BE LEGENDARY, it's supposed to create the greatest steel in all of Tamriel, but Bethesda is tryna tell me that its only a little better than REGULAR STEEL. No shot, 0 accuracy, you are blinded. ITS SUPPOSED TO FEEL LIKE THIS. But nooooo it's just regular steels better looking cousin. yes I know it doesn't have a special texture stop making fun of me. Nope not if I have anything to say about it.

By stealing everything from darklord4878 I created a mod that makes this not so legendary stuff into steel that rivals EBONY! Me and you irl. I made specific changes with a lot of thought behind why the armor and weapons would be stronger lore wise. And while I do agree with darklord4878 on making the armor and weapons as good as orcish, I still think they need an extra push so that I can enjoy this armor for as long as possible until I get to actual ebony stuff and make my choice of weather or not I want to switch. Even in lore if someone is talking about something like it's the the bee's knees I would expect it to live up to that reputation.

Reasons on why I decided to make the weapons the way they are:
So first things first is why is everything heavier? Well ignoring the fact that if it was left at what they are originally it would be 100% better than ebony weapons and just overall makes them useless. A voice line in the game, said by Balimund the smith in Riften, says that Skyforge Steel is special because the heat of the forge allows the smith to forge the steel in a manner where the steel "holds tighter". What this loosely means is that the Skyforge is able to make the steel grain smaller or "tighter". The smaller grain size allows the steel to have more grain boundaries, and more grain boundaries means stronger steel. Stronger steel usually is heavier than lower quality steel so it just makes sense that Skyforge steel is heavier and stronger than it's original base counterpart. And I understand that if there are any actual blacksmiths and mineral experts out there that say what I said is kinda somewhat true and that there's more to it than what I just said but again going back to point 1, I don't wanna make Skyforge Steel broken so lets just pretend that the magicals in the forge make it denser or heavier or something. Read between the lines will yah.

For Nord Hero weapons I decided that the steel wouldn't be as strong as full Skyforge Steel weapons because in order to build them in the first place you need the original Ancient Nord weapons. By my logic I think instead of being created completely from Skyforge steel it is only improved upon with it and still has the original ancient steel as a base. With all that in mind these weapons would technically be "worse" so they are lighter than full Skyforge Steel but it are still WAAAAAY better than the original ancient stuff. Technically if you really wanted to be realistic about it, these weapons would do the same damage as the others because all you would have to do is add a layer of Skyforge Steel to the blade making it just as sharp. But I want there to be a noticeable tradeoff for why someone would want to choose one over the other and not just make it the same as the Skyforge Steel weapons but better due to the lower weight. Ancient Nord armor doesn't suffer from this because you don't use any original ancient parts to craft it, so it's all Skyforge steel. Bullhunky that the guards still flame me saying it smells funky though.

Now for why some of these weapons are lighter than the ebony weapons. I thought a lot about why it should or shouldn't be lighter than it. I ultimately choose that they should be lighter and my main thoughts behind for why it should is because if you look at their models these weapons all use wooden hilts unlike the ebony weapons. Wooden hilts are lighter than full metal ones so it should obviously affect the weight. So for the weapons with large wooden hilts I made them 1 (whatever form of weight measurement is used in Skyrim) lighter. I do think it's a little unfair to the ebony weapons but I reasoned with myself by saying that if Skyrim had a durability measurement like fallout it would be quite a bit weaker.

This article explains it quite well if you would like a source: https://www.kiscosteel.com/reasons-why-you-shouldnt-ignore-role-of-grain-size-in-the-quality-of-steel/

Compatibility
As for compatibility it should be compatible with any texture or mesh replacers such as aMidianBorn Book of Silence SE and LeanWolf's Better-Shaped Weapons SE. As long as other mods don't edit the stats of the weapons or armor, you should be good to go. I could maybe learn to create patches for any mods that you guys like but that depends on schedule/willingness so we will see.

Credits
All credit belongs to darklord4878 for creating the original mod. All I did was simply edit his mod to better align with my ideas and by him telling me that I should upload it as my own I did. So If anyone wants to download my mod make sure to support him and anything he creates in the future. He's incredibly talented and I will be forever thankful.
