The original version "Rest By Campfire" is still being supported, thanks to its perk of dependency-less functioning which is crucial for console releases and non-skse players.
And just in case you might be hesitating: it's safe to switch from original RBC mid-playthrough.
I'm using this, Campfire, Hunterborn, Survival Mode Improved, and they all work well. The campfires from Campfire mod don't work for the purpose of this mod, but vanilla campfires work,.
You forgot: Works on any campfire, from vanilla to modded, as long as they're copies of vanilla campfires baseobject which bears the baseID "Campfire01Burning" and "Campfire01LandBurning".

"Modded ones" is just a broad term I use to help the less-experienced understand references object created from base object, including but not limited to animated statics placed in modded world spaces, interiors, etc,...
Campfire uses its own base object, not references of vanilla's. Campfire doesn't touch vanilla campfire, and RBC modifies vanilla campfire only. Naturally there shall be no relation between them and zero conflict entailed.
And additional context for your question: Campfire allows you to place a bedroll anywhere, which is a much more comfortable, convenient and immersive way to sleep, thus I don't feel the need to provide resting function when interacting with Campfire's campfire. There's even compatibility issue needs tackling, as Campfire already implemented custom interactions for its campfire.
Ahhh I gotcha, I wasn't sure what campfires the Campfire mod has tagged. But ok, thank you for clarifying! I've been on a journey to lighten up the script load in my game so I'm always curious about possible alternatives.
What I since did notice is that Hunterborn's Primitive Cooking lesser power doesn't recognize campfires swapped by RBC as sources of heat, giving out a message of "There is no nearby heat source". There is a possibility that Fires Hurt will not work with them either because of the swap. Other than that, this mod is amazing, even integrates very well with Go to Bed, since your char will actually lie down on the floor around the campfires to sleep. Thank you for your excellent work!
Please pay attention to the changelogs. New update 2.5.1 for original Rest By Campfire has been released to addresses this issue, and this BOS version benefits from the same fix, both essentially uses the same assets.

so... there is a way to prevent this?

I need to read up on BOS usage, might be able to exclude by area
+ BOS version can essentially replaces any and all campfires including modded ones without the need of dedicated patch."
I thought it would though? Does it mean modded ones as in added vanilla "tagged" campfires?

Edit: I tried it and sleeping by these campfires does not appear to reduce fatigue.
