It's ridiculous that A) VAR is still the best 3BA vanilla armor replacer available and B) Your hair patch is absolutely necessary To say nothing of how the mod creator both locked comments and is now apparently ashamed of their amazing armor mod.
Thanks a million for fixing the hair issue. I still have some vanilla hair clipping through the hair on the dragonbone plate helmet texture, but I'll take that over purple and vanilla fighting for dominance.
The mod author was not satisfied with the mod, because it had some problems and some outfits didn't turn out like they wanted. That's understandable that they want to make it better. But yeah I agree, best armor replacer, I like BD's as well, althought it clashes a bit with TAWOBA. I tried to fix what I was able to, but as it's a large mod and each setup is its own, it was difficult to get everything right. Glad you appreciate it though, thank you.
Thank you for making this. Also, probably the last patch needed is for vampires in thieves hood. On normal characters hair and mesh show up, but vampire (female char.) just goes bald and without a hood. I tried installing a mod that fixes thieves hood for vampires, but that only enables the mesh, not the hair, would you care to make a fix? I'm also using Sacrosanct if that matters.
Thanks for your kind words, and for reporting. I'll keep this in line with possible future updates to the patch hub. Right now though I don't have the mod installed in my game, and my free time is spent on other projects, mainly for Legendary Edition. Also, I overlooked it because I never play as a vampire actually. It should pretty straightforward as long as you make the ARMA record for the hood with hair usable by vamps, as well as edit in any necessary armor slots if that first edit doesn't take. Of course it also will depend on race, not only on vamp status. You can address these edits in xEdit, if you know your way around.
Whenever I put on any of the helmets like the shrouded cowl or ebony helmet my character just goes bald and doesn't have the helmet does anyone have a fix?
Your character is male, right? Potentially you have male armor replacers as well, right? That's an issue with Vanilla Armor Replacer. The patches I made don't solve that issue, they address other inconsistencies. Please check that mod page's comments for a sort of workaround - something I wrote about what I did to solve things like that on my end.
Never noticed such a problem, but then again I always play as a female character. Still, it hasn't happened in my games. The fixes that have been addressed are the ones listed in the description. I can take a look at that issue as long as you describe in detail what happens to whom, how and when. Sorry but I don't have alot of time nowadays to canvas a mod this size with so little to go on. With more info, sure I'll take a look.
Male NPCs in the game lose their hair when using helmets, such as with Iron Helmets, and almost every male member of The Companions loses their hair because they wear full helmets, while female NPCs don't
You can take a look at the comment section of the original mod, where I also found a person who had this problem, but I didn't solve my problem by the solution given by the person who replied to him. Here's what the comments section said:
I think I have found a way to overcome this issue. I still don't know what is breaking this, probably some plugin that applies to helmets, but I have found out that if you turn of the mod after building armors in bodyslide you can turn on the game and male helmets are back. Well, female Vanilla helmets are back too, but that's just a small downside of this method, it still looks better than almost every man being bald (and I'm afraid those in full helmets would be headless). And, let's be honest, almost nobady came here for helmets.
So the methos is:
Install Vanilla armor replacer (Of course bodyslide has to be installed, but I think that's obvious)
Open bodyslide, batchbuild all of the armors from this mod either using groups or just by checking the right boxes
Turn off the mod and it's patches in the mods tab of vortex
Right-click Vanilla Armor Replacer mod and choose open in File Menager
Copy Textures folder and head over wherever your skyrim is installed (Using steam, backtracking shortcut or whatever)
Go into Data folder and paste textures inside it
Run Skyrim with SKSE and check if it's working
It should be but I can't guarantee it. I can't say I'm fully happy about how I did this, but it's better than nothing. I might look into it in the future but I doubt I will find any senseful solution. This comment ends
I'm not a native English speaker, so I can only translate his words to solve the problem, which is very inaccurate, I'm using the mo2 manager and the texture pack for mo2 doesn't seem to be in the Data folder of the game directory
Okay, look, I took care of issues I identified during my playthroughs of my Vortex Collections The Magically Hip and The Magically Hip REDUX.
You can watch the vids for these, I have 36 in the linked playlist, there are no issues apart from the ones I identified and corrected, so I am wondering if this isn't something related to some mod you might have and I don't. Playthroughs with Vanilla Armor Replacer by loveisinstant I do recall running into some sort of issue with Bonemold helmets, similar to what you describe, but not for males, but for females. I corrected it by combining BD's Armor and Clothing Replacer with this VAR, with the added bonus of BD's Armor and Clothing Replacer covering outfits that this mod doesn't cover (Vampire Armor for instance). I did eventually make my own replacer patches for both Vampire and Dawnguard outfits from goampuja armor mods, but still, this might be helpful to you eventually. Start by batching, then run through the game in tgm and teleporting to locations where you found issues before. Then go back into bodyslide and build individual items that might get fixed this way. I might have another look into VAR at a later time, as I really enjoy these armor models, but at least for now, and with a running save from my collection The Magically Hip REDUX, I have no further qualms with it.
I've also thought about putting VAR materials into BD to use, but I don't know how to do it, I'm doing it today, but it failed, can you publish your VAR improved by BD?
I can't solve the problem of male NPC bald heads with this patch you are using your current,I really like this mod, he doesn't just change the armor to a bikini like other mods, I spent six hours today stuffing the VAR meshe and textures files into the BD, I tried to drive the VAR texture pack through the BD esp file, maybe this can bypass the VAR esp and make my NPC no longer bald, but I still failed after trying, I don't know if it's because the VAR texture pack is also written in the code.
I have no permissions from mod authors to do that, and either way you'd only get meshes with my chosen body type, not yours. Bodyslide is not hard to learn, you just need to learn from one of several great tutorial videos on youtube. Get BD's and batch build it in bodyslide. Then re-batch build VAR with fix in Bodyslide. Then get my patches here. That's the best I can do for you RN.
Textures have nothing to do with this problem, your issue is with meshes! What other armor replacer mods are you running? For males for instance. Load BD plugin after whatever th you have for males, then load VAR plugin after.
I understand your frustration but as I said before, my mod is just a few patches for correcting some hairs and bald old gods helmet. I don't claim to be able to solve every compatibility issue there is for VAR. I also will be busy now so I can't respond here nor walk you through learning bodyslide. You have resources available online if you search a bit. Pay attention to the vids and try to replicate. Otherwise it's best you use a body type that doesn't require bodyslide, and a different armor replacer mod. Have a good day.
Anyway, brother, I thank you very much, I will give your YTB a subscription, even if it can't solve the baldness problem, I will continue to play, because I love this mod, thank you for replying to me, let me feel the warmth of the community
Thank you for the inspiration, I finally made it I removed all the helmet gear from the ESP, and I deleted the helmet files in MESHES and BODYSLIED, and finally, my male npc showed hair, and I'm not sure if this works for everyone. It's been fantastic, I also managed to use a combination of BD and VAR, and now I'm using a BD helmet
There you go. A shame you miss on some incredible headgear (like the Forsworn one) but as long as it works out for you. You won't need my patches though. :D
TYSM for this patch Was always annoyed that hairs were a bit buggy on most armors Especially when you're completely bald wearing like the steel plate one for example Will there be a uniboob add on to this someday Saw one but it was for the old vanilla armor replacer which was deleted way back Doesn't work for the new one for 3ba
It was triggering me a bit as well, and since I want loveisinstant's mod in my collection, I had to try and correct it. I haven't touched Steel Plate Helmet though, I just added the hair textures pathed as each of these helmets required. In the mod page screenshots you can see the helmets and hoods that I corrected - Dragonscale is missing because I corrected it after the screenshot session. I'll have a look at the Steel Plate Helmet, I think two meshes from Nisetanaka's work were combined for it, so I'm not sure I can do anything about it. In case I can't, my advice on that would probably be - combine this mod with BD's Armor and Clothes Replacer - first load BD's plugin, then this one -, generate specific meshes for the Steel Plate Helmet from Bd's mod and find these helmets to remove them.
I'm not savvy on Outfit Studio to make uniboob conversions to the outfits' information either, this was merely to address the simple matter of the hairs appearing purple under the hood/helmet. :)
Yea in every way tho I thank you for these patches And yea if you need to take a look at the steel plate scenario be my guest Also do understand you're not an expert of bodyslide stuff(tbh I'm not either) I had that feeling I could ask since this patch was a light and hope to this armor replacer mod I've had in my load order for some time If there are any other situations can I feel free to inform you?? I can put them in bug reports and hope for the better or worse
Please do inform me, but do it here in this thread - or join my discord. Bug section is for bug reports on my mod, these are things we want to correct in loveisinstant's mod though. If I'm able to correct the SP helmet, I'll most probably keep the winged headband instead of the blind mask. I won't check until during the week, so feel free to add stuff on helmets and hoods here that you find disconcerting. Don't bother with the Glass Helmet though, it's a bit strange but since it's seethrough, it's better with that creepy hair than with none. :D I wish more Harry2135 armors had been used... Check out my patches for Dawnguard Armors, Vampire Armors and Vampire Clothes, they're all to substitute regular outfits with goampuja's Blade Dancer, Regalia of the Scorned and Dark Dreams respectively, give a more in-context-with-VAR look for female members of those factions.
I've since spawned all helmets onto my female character, Steel Plate Helmet is functioning properly for me - shows her hair under the helmet correctly. Every Helmet that uses Circlet slot will function properly by showing your character's correct hair. If this isn't happening for you, it may be another armor replacer getting in the way. I did discover that Helmet of the Old Gods was using a Hair slot that it shouldn't in the ARMO part, so I created an ESPFE record edit for it specifically, already shared here. Please let me know if you find other inconsistencies.
