After nearly 12 years, Skyrim bugs are still being found. I shudder to think how many bugs Starfield is going to have on day one. I will still stick with Skyrim for a few years after its launch. There are so many good mods, fixes and improvements to keep me going for a long while yet.
I wonder if it's a Bethesda thing only or if most games would have so many obscure bugs found if so many people picked over them for so long I never noticed this as a bug, I just thought it was something the base game did (not making the connection with when it happened), great to see this game get honed more and more over time
People love to forget the sheer scope of this game. Bethesda isn't perfect by a long shot, but nothing this size can be perfect when made to a deadline.
It can be quite humbling to look at how many bug reports bug fix mods have themselves. The big Kryptopyr classics, for example, are absolutely riddled with their own issues they introduce- they're still fundamentally good. Just like Skyrim is fundamentally good. Requiem is another good example- they took so long to port to SE because they were aware that sometimes it can take years to find bugs. Game devs don't spend years post-development for bugtesting.
Helps to think of it that rather than Skyrim having 12 years worth of bugs, it's had 12 years worth of community development. Games with less modding support don't get the luxury of being polished for that long. Every game in existence would benefit from that if they could be pulled apart as much as this.
I wonder if AI will be more effective/efficient at finding/prevening bugs. Seems like something that could be accomplished much better by an AI rather than the trial-and-error process.
I think this bug is harder to notice in vanilla but with modded water and an enb it stands out. And I believe it may only apply to the cell you are in too, i've noticed "edges" of differently colored water in the past
This game has a lot more bugs that other (much larger, more complex) open world games. It's definitely a mess. Thankfully, it's also the most mod-friendly game ever made so modders can clean up the mess.
Ever notice how you never, not even once, find that a bug fix has depreciated because Bethesda fixed that bug. Despite the endless updates, this never happens, not even once and every single bug fix remains necessary. Funny, when I was a boy Bethesda Studios updates used to make me feel so safe...
I'm still having this issue for some reason, especially in caves. Any idea what could be causing this? In any event, this mod doesn't seem to fix it, sadly.
Okay, got it. I think it indeed did remove the effect from exterior waters. But is there a way to also remove those green reflections from interior water?
Yes it does. Mod description has information about what this mod does. This is an engine bug independent of water mods. seams are caused by rwt compatibility issues with other mods due to its worldspace edits and has nothing to do with this fix.
So according to SoS: "Fixes green water cube map bug where all water reflects green cave cubemap after you leave an interior location with water in it. This is an vanilla engine bug."
Is this not necessary if you run that? Or is it an upgraded version of that?
Please learn about the difference between causation and correlation. This is definitely not the cause of your issues.
Think about this for more than a few moments: if it causes such a glaring issue with certainty as you say it does, thousands of people would have experienced it in the years it's been released. It would have also been revealed in basic testing.
Whatever you're experiencing is user error on your part. Don't throw blame around without evidence please.
doesn't matter how long time passes or how many answers you give, there will always be people making comments like this without even trying to understand what could be causing it. try to understand what a mod does first before complaining
I'm honestly confused and intrigued about how it's possible for someone to so royally screw up their load order that they could be both floating and drowning even in a pool of ankle deep water. Normally, you'd think that this was going against the laws of physics to be both physically floating above a body of shallow water and insta killed by it. But somehow, against the odds, poltergeist100 managed it. If there isn't a prize for this right now, there needs to be one. And we need need to see a video of this hilarious death sequence now!

(this doesn't fix green reflections for specular objects. We haven't figured that one out yet)
