    UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS
    From 2.0 or Above
    - Upgrade as normal

    From Under 2.0

    - Remove the old mod, play, save
    - Fallrim if you can
    - Install update (this may or may not update 100% on existing saves)

    - New games are fine
    - New mod dependency iWantWidgets
    - See changelog for all the changes
    - Built in newest CK. Newest skyrim will work, old versions may work. Check the Don'tRollInThat for discussions on modifying the header in xedit if you want.
    - See sticky'd post below this if using an old skyrim version.

BEFORE YOU POST: READ THIS... SLOWLY...

I... don't.... touch.... the... tempering.... system... in.... this.... mod.....
The mod modifies the item health level only and relies on the vanilla system to temper it back up.

I was bummed to realize that versions 2.x wouldn't work on my setup (didn't even show up in MCM like mentioned below), but then found this savior mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/106441?tab=description

Now all bikini armor slots perfectly degrade, at least after 15 mins of playing around 😀 My Skyrim version is 1.5.97 btw.

That's great to hear! I'll pin this so others can benefit from it. Thanks :)

Are there plans to add a chance to have tempered weapons and armor appear on NPCs and/or vendors?  That's the only feature I miss from other degradation mods.  It makes the game feel more realistic knowing that other people temper their gear too.  It also makes the game a little bit harder because enemies will do more damage to you and take less damage from you.

wait, so if I toggle the amulet slot on, does that mean the amulet will get degraded and ultimately unequipable like an armor? cause that would be actually quite awesome.

Yes. You will need another mod to be able to repair the amulet as you normally can't temper it.

Does this work with any mod added armor/weapon? So far that's my main hang up on which one of these types of mods to choose.

Doesn't work for me, it loads and shows an MCM entry and everything, but I've literally tried massacring a bandit wearing only a roughspun tunic with a daedric warhammer like 20 times in a row and nothing ever breaks.

Sounds like a spid issue. Is your gear degrading?

Get hit a lot, see if it degrades or breaks

No, it doesn't seem to do anything there either.

Then the mod sounds like it’s either off in the MCM or don’t install correctly

It took me a while to find settings that I enjoy playing with, but it was worth it.  This is the best equipment degradation mod I've tried.  My only complaint is the widget.  It bugs out a lot and generally responds pretty slowly.  I think that's just the problem with iWant Widgets though.  iWant Widgets NG helps out in those regards but this mod doesn't support the NG version.  I had to uninstall iWant Widgets NG to use this mod and now my other widgets are slow too. :(

This mod looks *almost* exactly like what I want :) Thanks!

    I got two questions:

    1. The description mentions something like a keyword which can be used to prevent items from degrading / breaking? Did I misinterpret the description - or is there indeed some keyword I could apply to the armors which should not break?

    2. Is the NPC visual degradation / breakage issue like a general thing which cannot be easily solved - or do you see a chance in the future that this could be added to this mod?

Great mod with lots of ways to edit it to your liking. Default settings where your items can break in a single hit was a bit too much for me, so thanks to include options for us milkdrinkers. Widgets seems a bit wonky but I guess that is to be expected when you add it to a huge modlist like Constellations. Now I just need to create some recipes for items that normally can't be tempered.

Great to hear its to your liking. I'm still picking at the UI. I'm not sure if its my setup, something with Iwidgets, or (likely) a combination of the two. There'll be an update for it eventually.

When loading a save the widgets are gone. You need to unequip something and equip it again to get them to show. At least that is the behavior I got on a new game.

This mod also use widgets which are much nice to look at and doesn't bug out. Don't know if you could use the same approach. From what I have been reading on the Iwant Widgets modpage the problem might be with Iwant Widgets and not your mod.

What settings do you guys recommend? My gear seems to be breaking incredibly fast. My freshly tempered chestpiece broke during a single brawl with Uthgerd lol.

Depends on how fast you want your stuff to break. But yeah default settings will make your armor break fast. At least without tempering/better materials. Personally I toned down the Powerattack and Twohanded modifier as your armor seems to be made of wet paper in the beginning.

The UI widget doesn't work with iWant Widgets NG if anyone was wondering.

There’s been a lot of reported issues with the NG version if I recall. Stick with the original.

Really? I wasn't aware, I saw NG at the end and assumed it was the better/updated version.

Hello! I use this mod on new Skyrim version .1130. I started new game. And I don't see any widgets to display degradation state of armor or weapons. In SkyUI inventory there is no information about degradation state. So when I have some broken armor I don't even know if it's broken. I had to click and try every armor by list to find some that is not broken yet.
    1) Do anybody have working UI of this mod on Skyrim .1130?
    2) Or is it a know issue?
    3) Do anybody have any ideas hot to deal with it?

The widgets will only show the health of equipped armor in the hud, the inventory interface isn’t touched by this mod.

Problemme is that I don't see any widgets. Is it working for Skyrim .1130? Is there some recommendations what to check or how to fix?
I have other mods that use "iWant Widgets". And they are all working. But not for this mod

I wish that there will be some way to check degradation status of equipment without trying to put it on. It's not convenient to use for now. I can describe a simple case. I want to sell extra instances of armor of the same type to trader. In trading menu I just can't equip and check which armor is broken. So there is a risk that I can sell armor of good quality that I want to use myself instead of broken or that with "low health".
I tried to play for some time. And this is a problemme.
Approach of mod like Breakable Equipment System (that I used before) is more convenient at the moment. Because it uses tempering system. So level of tempering is displayed in inventory UI "out of the box" and player can evaluate degradation state. But for approach, used by current mod it looks like some additional inventory UI changes are required.
      Still thanks for your work!

There’s no way to change how it looks in your inventory, no mod can do this. BES creates a dummy object in its place then swaps it when you need it. This also leads to crashes sometimes I find.

in the end, you should definitely use which ever mod works best for your game.

For me, I keep everything tempered, so if it’s in my inventory and not tempered, I consider it needs fixing independent of if it’s broken or not.

OK. Thanks for answers. I didn't knew this about BES. I shall think about it. But the intersting thing that there are some mods than looks like they can add more info to UI: SkyUI AIO Survival (SAS). Actially it was my idea that I suggested to mod author to add column "Total Weight" (T.WT). And somehow (I don't know how) it was implemented. And it is very usefull for inventory management.

Hello. I have an idea ;-) Is that possible to add some special enchantement type or other type of sign for broken item that is already supported by Skyrim inventory UI? Maybe mark them as "stolen" or something? ;-)
Also looks like this mod can show extra info in trading and inventory menu...

Maybe there could be some use of it to display armor health too?..
