Stolen Possessions: the Deceased

Skyrim is a very wild place. Stealing and murder is frowned upon by the population, but if murdering someone in cold blood their items suddenly become legal. Poaching is illegal, but the Dragonborn seems to be above the law. At times, determining what is legal or not can be challenging and ambiguous in Skyrim. Should a Bandit's items be considered stolen or not? After all they must be stolen items from someone less fortunate than us.. Are vampires still people and their items still belong to them? Are Dwemer inhabitants property of the state or free to loot?

This mod aims to solve this immersion-breaking issue. It lets the user customize their own vision of how possessions must work in Skyrim and appropriately tags loot (with stolen) of deceased actors.

Features

  • Deceased actor items are appropriately tagged with the steal tag.
  • UI friendly.
  • 18+ different categories (Citizens, Outlaws or factions like the Silver Hand). Make you own experience!
  • Automatic option for factions.
  • Optional Killing blows exclusion rule. Disallows the player from scavenging while still being able to loot your foes.
  • 3 different presets.
  • Experimental QuickLoot support.
  • MCM support

Recommended

  • Mum's the Word NG. Removes stolen tag from looted items of low value IF you didn't get caught. Customizable.

This mod is by no means an original idea and is inspired by other mods (Contraband, Honor the Dead, SV Mods Menu SE - More Punishable Crimes) aiming to improve upon their groundwork to deliver a better player experience. If you are interested, please check them out, they all have features that are outside the scope of this mod.
